Having a brand new car painted?

  • Sponsors (?)

its been done. I HIGHLY suggest going to a good body shop if you do get it painted though, and not a $800 special at MAACO. Also, i think the pink stripes on black look a lot classier than all pink, but thats just my opinion

Factory Paint will last longer. Well done (Prep too) aftermarket paint will be shinier with less orange peel (Less texture, smoother). Taken care of properly aftermarket paint will last too.

But like others said, no cheap job.

Stripes on Black or even White are a GREAT alternative.

+1 on the stripes.

But if you really want to shell out some serious cash check out Saleen's Molly Pop Pink.

I'm warning you though the specialty Saleen treatments like in the MP run close to 25K bucks for a paintjob!

We haven't got her a car yet, we're waiting to see if Ford do some promos in the next couple of months. I was thinking we'd buy white to make painting easier???

I wouldn't fork out $25,000 on a paint job for a $30,000 car, that certain!!!

you're going to need to spend 5-7K to avoid regret of the body shop experience. anything less than that and dont expect perfection in reassembly or paint quality.

i've been there and advise against it strongly.

I'm glad that resale value has never influenced mod decisons on any car I've owned in my life. I buy 'em to drive! Hell, if you want pink, go for it. Just don't drive it yourself unless you just like rainbows or something... it would look kinda weird. Good luck.

I hope you actually paint it pink... she'd like it. I'd do it for my wife if she wanted... but thankfully she hasnt' asked, because to do a good job, as described above, it SHOULD cost $7,000 - $12,000 to get if done very good with lots of clearcoats... somthing that will last for 20-30 years.

If you Macco it, and if you are worried about resale, you might as well just drive it to the dump.
