I don't want to go too far into details just yet since this post could be pulled and used against me but I do want to vent a little bit. Got pulled over for my front license plate being obstructed. My plate was placed between the glass and dash. State law says you must have 2 plates, but does not state where the plates must be. Like I said I don't want to go too far into stuff but I should have my day in court in the coming months. Guess that's what I get for being a 24 yr old in a red mustang..

I feel ya, i'm a 20 year old in a red Mustang. lol

Where I live, the plate has to be on the bumper in the location the factory placed in the bumper for a plate. To be honest I wouldn't even contest it. It'll cost you more in the end, and you will continue to get pulled over for it later on. Do you plan to take it to court every time you get a ticket for it? I'm with you however, I don't want to drill holes in my bumper either. Try velcro or heavy duty magnets

Its going to cost the same if I fight it or pay it or so the clerk said. I know it has nothing to do with my case but 95% of vettes, beamers and benz's here don't have them.. just frustrating because I'm not trying to break the law, its visible in the front windshield which is what it has to be.

Yea, here in NJ you hardly ever see a Vette with plates on the front. I used to rock mine on the dash also but I got tired of getting hassled over it so I eventually gave in...It's not really an age thing because I'm 33.

Robmac that would be similar to what they got me for... if its obscured which they could say with that and that's all it takes.. I'm probably going to lose but its going to cost the same just to pay it so ill go down fighting.

big deal, my last speeding ticket was $1250 just to get the points dropped..

If I was in the wrong on this I wouldn't fight it and pay. I wasn't speeding at all and the guy pulled me over for this one issue. If I was speeding and he tacked this onto the speeding ticket I still wouldn't be happy but I should not have been speeding to get pulled over in the first place. Being a broke recent college grad 200 is alot of money to me..

Drove around for 4 years and never pulled over for the front plate. In the course of one week got pulled over twice for it, one ticket, one warning (but he got me for speeding). Put the plate back on, no point in fighting it, the man always wins.

And on top of that I am getting raped right now because I am on temporary duty to Ft. Bragg and all my defensive driving stuff is getting mailed back home. So I can't sign my documents and get the ticket dismissed on time. :notnice:

Moral of the story is I hope it goes better for you.

We shall see, its a pointless law to have a plate in the front I think. I have good vision and cannot read a plate as its moving by me. This is just one of those laws that they catch 'other' offenses on. I understand that but I wish they would be easier to people who are doing nothing wrong but this petty offense. Dark did you fight it? Also how were you able to take DD since it was a non-moving offense?

I ended up deferring the ticket for the front license plate by sending them a picture of my stang with a license plate mounted. Not planning on taking the plate off any more :( Had to pay something like ~$30 to defer it and they cleaned my record of the ticket, pretty painless. See if they defer front license plates in your area, makes it much less hassle.

Doing DD for the speeding. I'm in the middle of training and they want me to be in court halfway across the country with ~6 days notice.... I'm calling them tomorrow, hopefully I can get it figured out.

I agree with the plate thing. With 20/20 vision if someone is several car lengths out there is no way I can read their plates. Especially the front plate, nearly impossible to see.

Has anybody ever used a hide away license plate kit? Any of them that will fit our cars? I guess I will look into getting one of these just not sure which to go with
