T-5 Shifting Issues

Back in May, I pulled the tranny to do a rear main seal swap. Having never done it before, I took my sweet time with everything. She went back in and was perfectly fine. With it out, I changed the fluid and went with Royal Purple instead of the stock stuff (I got a good deal, $4 a quart at the time). Drove it for a few months and I started to notice a problem.

In shifting from 1st to 2nd, at any RPM above 3000, the trans wouldn't let me go to second. It didn't grind, more so "barked," and wouldn't let me get second until the RPMS were lower. Slow speed driving and low acceleration showed minimal resistance, same as for going into any other gear. Also, after I short shifted for 2nd, when I would shift for 3rd and 4th, there was no problem whatsoever. The trans is the original in the car. She has a little over 91k on the clock.

I'm thinking synchro, but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

Put different fluid in it. Synthetic isn't helping you I promise. Put standard old ATF back in it. People seem to think the slicker/thinner, the better and it's just not how it works
