Rusty hatch, how should I go about fixing this?

I may or may not have a line on a rust free hatch, however the glass needs to be resealed on it, and the wiring has been hacked up. This is what my hatch looks like right now:

This is the original hatch to my car. Somewhere along the way someone put a GT wing on it and filled the LX wing holes. I picked up a decent LX wing this past weekend and I am trying to decide if I should bother keeping this one or not.

I had the same problem with my hatch. I went to a body shop about repairing it! I was pretty much told replace it because once the hatch on a Mustang starts rusting it is unstopable! Our local salvage yards did not have one or could locate one either! I was told because alot of Fox bodied Mustangs are being gobbled up in salvage yards and being made into Drag strip warriors they are getting hard to find. So I made a call to www.bieberfever.com and found a rust free GT hatch there even with the cost of the hatch and the cost to truck ship it to me was less expensive than a Fiberglass hatch.

:(^^^Agree with this. Had an 84 GT I finally had to give up on. I cut out rust and patched holes and killed it all DEAD!....or so I thought. I painted it, and a year later, you could look through the rust holes in the roof. I thought I had won the battle, and it just kept coming back. Problem is, those old cars weren't galvanized like they are now, and they rust from the inside out. In places you just can't get to without cutting the car open with a giant can opener. Hatches are easy to replace, considering what happened with mine. I'd replace it and rock on! Good luck!!

Weak. I'd like to keep it just for the fact that it is the original hatch on the car. I was all for trading it off when I thought it was off a GT.

Your call, man.

It would be nice to have the origional hatch, like you said.(although it adds no value to the car) But by the looks of what you've got, the window trim has got to come off, and possibly the window out to do it right. And then the crap still will probably spring up again near where you fixed it. Done it. Sorry.

Good luck.

Yeah I imagine you are correct. Supposed to meet up with a guy to see about trading hatches.
