Flowmaster original 40s not loud enough

I decided not to go with cutouts and instead bought two Flowmaster original 40 mufflers. It sounds great, even better than I had hoped. But it's not nearly as loud as I wanted it to be. I've looked on youtube and I really don't like the sound of the O/R H pipe or X pipes, it seems to make it a lot louder but sound a lot worse in my opinion (too raspy/farty), and I don't have the money to spend on headers right now.

My question is, if I took the 4 resonators off would it be louder while still sounding good? Or would it have the same sound as the O/R H pipe? And is there anything else I can do to get it louder without sounding bad? Thanks!

4 resonators?? Theres 4 catalytic converters and taking those off would be the same as an off road H. My car came with 40's welded into stock exhaust, and later I went with Super 40's cat back and off road H. Thought it was great. Til I made a 300 mile road trip. Loud gets old... quick. I now run catted H with the Super 40 cat back. Would like to go to a Magnaflow but dont want to spend the money to change the sound of my car. And now it seems in my town everybody has loud exhaust. Sucks when Im watching TV or trying to go to bed and someone drives by or stops to talk to someone and I have to hear it. From little 4 bangers to big blocks, and diesels. To me if you cant back up your loud exhaust with the performance, its just lame. Sorry if that pisses anybody off. Maybe Im getting old. Id rather it sound good than be LOUD!

All I want to know is if I take the resonators off will I get a good loud sound and not the sound of an off road H pipe. I don't have much money, and I don't think high flow cats are worth it to be honest.

If you take the resonators and cats out it will sound similar to an off road h-pipe. Just think about it, you just removed all the cats.

If money is an issue than you should save up. There is no point in playing with exhaust and cutting here and there- especially the stock pipes- you will end up spending more money in the end. Much much more money in labor, believe me. It is very time consuming and expensive to chop all of those blockages off.

Everyone is on a budget- for stangs on a budget, nothings sounds better than the classic mac prochamber / flowmaster combo. You already have the flowmasters so all you need is to save and buy this (assuming by your screen name you have a 97 gt):
1996-98 Mustang GT 2.5 MAC Prochamber (Aluminized)

It bolts right up to what you have. Too easy and good for mustangs on budgets. Even if it takes 3 months or whatever to save up for it, the wait will be worth it for auditory bliss. It will be loud, not raspy, and you will love it. (you can always add cats later if you want to pass emissions)

This is my set up, High Flow Cats, stock H and original 40's i set off alarms with it, its loud as hell and sounds great...well atleast to me hhaa, getting some headers put in soon to really open it up.YouTube - New Exhaust 04' Mustang GT
