Hello all, so with my tax return I am finaly able to put some money into my 93Cobra. Now I am keeping all my stock parts, I basically wanna add HP obs and have it be meaner on the street I had suggestions of you know getting a new fox and moding that but I'm keeping my Cobra for life and its my baby so I wanna work on her. So I'm looking for ideas to make me more vroom. Money is limited not looking to add a s charge or turbo right away more looking for ideas around new intakes cams suggestions beside new engine or charger/turbo sorry if this is jumbo just typing as I think

The cobra has good base parts. The heads, intake, injectors and TB can stay.

If it were my car on a budget and i wanted to keep the factory parts (which there is a good chance i would), i may consider these things.

A. Ditch the cam, even an e would be an improvement.
B. Take the heads off, have them at least valve jobbed and the spring seats pressures done.
C. At the same time have the lower intake port matched to the heads (not to be confused with gasket matched).
D. Add a good mass air meter, DBX may be your only choice at this point, although i don't know of it's compatibility with the crummy cobra computer.
E. Add some good headers, like ford racing or bassani.

With these mods i bet you pick up a good 50rwhp, and your car will look and drive the same, probably for $850 total or less.

If your budget is a little higher, look for a set of used gt40x heads, maybe even a set of gt40y's. Likely net you around 75rwhp.

These parts aren't max hp parts, but if i had a 93 cobra, i'd use all ford parts on it (other than the meter).

Personally I wouldn't touch a thing on a 93 cobra, I would buy one of millions of other foxes out there to mod but thats just me and I'm nostalgic.

This is why i suggested using the factory parts to his advantage.
Looks the same, but is faster.
Working over the factory parts won't hurt the value at all.
And honestly since the car already uses 24lb injectors, nobody really has to even know.

I'm putting AFR165 heads and a E cam on my '93 Cobra. I'm saving all the old parts. I have no intention of selling it, so I'd like to get as close to 300rwhp as possible without a power adder. Equal length shorty headers, highflow cats and a cat-back exhaust are already on the car.

If i Had a 93 cobra i would not touch a thing on the car, a stock cobra is worth so much more than a moded one, but you didn't post to find that out.

I Like 2000Xp8's ideas because when your done it will still appear as stock and you will have the extra power you need without having to change everything in the drive line to keep up with the increased power.

you know you can buy nice gt's for 3000-4000 bucks and put whatever you want on there

93' Cobras are just like GTs/LX5.0s, they're lousy stock but fun to own modified. Yes, if you've got a low mileage Cobra and trailer it to shows and keep it covered in the garage, I'd agree keep it stock, but what's the point in all that? Cars are made to be driven. Personalize it, make it look good (not with fake scoops) and enjoy driving it.

Yea I know it's worth more, if I keep it stock. Only thing it has is a ram and a stark clutch kit like cable and everything... But my car did't like it and the cable started to saw against the Blowout of firewall I forget what so we put a non-selfadjustable clutch ford racing one in there and now the cable thumps around I took and ask local mech about it and they said there nothing that can be done... How is that true? It idol and makes a horrible taping loud sound and it does it in everygear just rattling around anyone got ideas? and I might get a gt/lx but I just love my Cobra I wanna drive her and keep her street I really don't wanna get a 2nd car just to mod and drive that over my cobra it's been in my family since 94 I have no no no no no desire to sell it been asked probably thousand times. I know it's a shame I am ruining my car as a collectable but, you know been driving her for 7 years she just mine ^.^ and it nice to see them on the rd imo not just being a nother 5.0

Put the stock clutch cable setup back in. If my last clutch wasn't so heavy and broke the quadrant, i would have never changed it, lasted over 15 years.

Nothing wrong with modding your cobra, as i said if you rework the stock pieces nothing about it's value will change.
You think all those cars crossing the stage at Barrett Jackson have unmodified stock parts on them? Trust me, they don't.

I have a 1993 cobra with shorty headers, and an e303. put down 265 rwhp and 305 ftlbs. im about to get rid of the e303 and put a b25 anderson cam in it and get ready for a supercharger. car runs good. just make sure you get it tuned with the new cam.

and thats with no head work or intake work. there is potential in the 1993 cobra stock parts...
