2011 5.0L Headers

I was wondering if anything special has to be done to put long tube headers on the new 5.0L's? I have been told that its not good to put headers on if you dont have some sort of forced induction, is this true or can you have headers with just a tune and cold air intake?

I've seen them on cars with just a CAI and tune...I've been told that they are actually one of the better mods to do...I've seen a few people do that even before the axle back

okay thanks. im lookin at gettin a new 5.0L and im tryin to come up with a list of mods that i can do in my garage. nothin to outrageous just simple stuff, ive got a heavily modded '03 powerstroke for sale if anyone is interested lol.

I don't have forced induction and I have long tube headers, they are great for N/A applications. They don't make much of a power difference on forced induction cars, the advantage there is the engine will make the same power with less stress on internals via less manifold pressure aka boost (PSIG). Yes long tubes are a pain to install on these cars due to massive size of the cylinder heads (very tight between engine and frame). :D

thanks for all the info. this forum is way better then the powerstroke ones. everyone on here will actually help lol

You probably dont want to do this in your garage. When Steeda does it, it's a WHOLE day labor charge and they actually drop the K-member and engine to get to them. NOW..in terms of power, you CAN get 20-30 at the wheels. You must redo the mid pipe with these...The set runs $1200-$1500 depending on brand and whether or not you get the mid pipes catted.

IMO, it is not the best "bang for the buck" mod, but if you have the coin and want them, I would pay a reputable performance shop to do them.

After busting my knuckles doing mine I vowed the next set I would do the same thing in dropping the K member.
