Mustang Hood Scoop Question

I just bought a 02 mustang for my son. It is a V6, mineral gray, with black leather pony interior. My question is, we like the look of the GT Hood scoop on the hoods. Are all the hood scoops aftermarket or did ford offer the hood scoop as an option on the cars new? I was wondering what my chances are of finding a mineral gray gt hood with a hood scoop at a junk yard?
Would save installing a hood scoop and then paying to have someone paint it to match the car.

That's a tricky question because some of the 99-04 V6's came with GT or Cobra hoods from the factory dependent on years.

If you have a recessed LX/GT hood (I have the '00 GT) you can visit a local salvage yard and look for a scoop and insert. I found one locally (ironically in Mineral grey) and plan on painting it flat/matte black.

I think the stock scoops look better than some of the "aftermarket" scoops as seen online. Google "2002 Mustang Hood Scoop" for some images and ideas.
