65 mustang column shaft thread size

does anyone know what the thread size is for the steering column shaft is. Mine stripped and i am going to attempt to rethread. Looks to be 3/4"

Hi,
I just measured a replacement shaft I had from my TCP install and it's 5/8".
It's supposed to be the correct dia and thread pitch for a 65 steering wheel nut.
Hope this helps and good luck with the re-thread, or else?
I hate to think of the alternatives.

Thanks for the help. Yes i am going to try and rethread, if not i am going to cut the shft where the threads are and weld on a new piece. Not the best alternative but it wont cost me anything but time.

OK. Needless to say, I know, but make sure you get good penetration on that weld......otherwise? Good luck!

You do understand that the smooth portion just below the threads is a precision taper that anchors the wheel, to prevent wobbling of the wheel.

yes i do
