Going to be ordering some 17" FR5's here pretty soon and am going to get some new rear tires (since my current 275's get no traction......AT ALL). I'm looking at 3 different radials, 2 Nitto's and the MT ET's.

**sidenote: I most likely will be going FI within the next 6 months + I've already got 4.10's

Nitto NT555R
Nitto NT05R
MT ET 2

The 555R's are considerably cheaper than both the NT05's and MT ET's. Are the differences between the 3 tires signficant enough to warrant going with the more expensive NT01's/MT ET's?

BTW, the tires are all 315's.

Still your DD right? Why not go with the 555R and see what you think first since you will be buying new tires after 10-15K no matter what the choice and see what you think of the less expensive one first. I've had great luck with my 555's and I know the R doesn't have a killer rep but hey if they work then why shell out the big bucks for a DD?

Is this for a second set of track tires?
How many miles do you put on a year?

If I remember, you drive this to school? I would not be buying the Nt05R. You will have a heck of a time in the rain, and they will be worn out before you know it. Get the 555R, and don't look back.

Nope, purely street tires.

Roughly around 5K a year

Yes, my longest commute is a whole 10 miles to campus. You make a great point regarding the rain. Althugh it doesn't rain much here, when it does.....it comes down HARD! I've already ordered the wheels with the 555R's from AM. Thanks for the info guys :nice:

Well I see you already made the purchase and you might be pleased with them if you are only using them on the street. When it comes to the passes at the track you would have been best with the MT ET Street as that tire is great.

I ran it on my 2011 and I know winters97gt runs them daily on his 800-900 horsepower corvette that has ran 9s on them

I agree. They are a very good street tire, and an ok track tire.
I think you got the better tire for a DD.
