And then there was rain...

So true street racers get a voucher, what a bunch of crap. I was looking forward to seeing Randy go for consecutive true street wins, I guess we will have to wait for MIR.

Joe, nice meeting you down there. I was looking forward to seeing you take home that 13.0 win!

Yeah, it sucks, but i had a great time. This was my first time on a 1/4 mile track. Pulled a couple of 12 second runs on my crappy nittos with relatively low launch rpm and fighting some tire spin. Hopefully i'll throw some mickey's on it later and run mid 12's. But, for now I can settle for 12.9X In Street trim, ac, power steering and iron gt40 heads!

Hey Joe what's your review on the 555r's? I'm thinking of getting either those or the 05r's

Hey Joe what's your review on the 555r's? I'm thinking of getting either those or the 05r's

They are a HUGE improvement over all season type tires. I went from a 9.04 on all season tires, to a 8.48 my first time out with the Nittos (1/8 mile). They are great on the street too. I just drove 120 miles from Atlanta Dragway to my house in the rain. Granted, I drove 55 mph the whole way and pissed everyone on I-85 and I-20 off! On the street they grip really well. I can actually accelerate into traffic without tire spin or sliding the back end around. This weekend, I cut my best 60ft with a 1.85, 8.35 1/8 mile, and 12.93 quarter mile (107.77mph) with the 555R's.

All that being said, they are not a Mickey. I am really limited to about 3100rpm launch, anything more and I just spin badly. They are a compromise when it comes to drag radials. Great on the street, but only GOOD at the track. They like to be heated up, about 6-7 seconds in 2nd gear does a good job. Also, I read a lot of reviews claiming they like higher air pressure (18-20 psi). I have tried several different levels of air, but I found my best 60ft with just 14psi. I actually bought a picture from the track this weekend, and the tire actually wrinkled a very little bit!

They are a reasonably priced and do their job, just don't expect to go your fastest on them.

Right im thinking of maybe going 05rs with my car our cars are similar what mine lacks in compression makes up in ci I'm 8.5 to 1 with a 347 so I'm sure the 555 with be good but I'm gonna try the 05rs

13.005 run, against Randy. He was 2 seconds late off the tree and still passed me at 150+! Definetly a fast car, and pretty nice guy.

12.93 run. Shelby ran an 11.85.

Definitely something to be proud of. Very impressive performance and driving!

We had a safe, and very long trip home (13 hours and 725 miles) but we made it. I really liked the track in Georgia and all of the southern hospitality was great. I'm looking forward to coming back next year!
