Add 100 horse to your 4.6 to bring it Coyote levels and we'll see how tried and true the 3650 is at that point....
So, let me get this straight: roughly same mileage as a Coyote, making 100 less hp. Hmmmm....power cost money in fuel usually but, apparently not here.
...and you think it's fair to say it isn't a mod for mod comparison when you're advocating adding a blower to the 4.6 just to get to stock Coyote levels? Getting a blower + 4.6 to hit numbers a Coyote with a good tune and a little exhaust work will do makes for an improvised explosive device.
The 4.6 is an ancient architecture, good for the era it came from but, the end of the line had been reached long ago. The engine was no longer able to be refined any further, so Ford finally went all in and redesigned everything. That was long overdue.
Considering the massive improvement underhood and the relatively low price increment to get newer technology with more potential, the purchase decision is obvious, at least to me.
Frankly, I can't imagine how pissed owners of new '10s must have been, (if they weren't paying attention to the worst kept secret in the automobile world) when they found out the new Mustang in '11 would be 100 horses stronger in one year.
My Coyote, one of the weak 412 horse versions to start with, runs an 11 sec 1/4 on a mild tune and a sticky tire, full load car. That's alright by me...until I strap a TVS on it and...I fear that decision is coming soon
