Just sold my winter project 86 mustang gt. Bought a 03 gt with no cats, X-pipe, dual Flowmasters and cold air intake. Was wondering what you guys think are good bolt on upgrades. Not doing heads or anything. I plan on doing 373 gears, possibly headers, MAF, 70mm throttle body and plenum. Underdrive pulleys. What order should I do these in as far as best bang for your buck?? This is not my daily driver, also I will not be taking it to drag, just here and there cruise nights and banging gears around town. Thanks for any input

If you're asking best bang for the buck.....I say scrap all of the rest and save up for a supercharger. Bolt on mods for this car can break you quick and aren't very rewarding as far as gains go. I can tell right off the bat, you're approaching this car like you would a 5.0L Fox body....Don't! Intake and exhaust mods do very little to increase the performance of the 4.6L SOHC cars. Power adders are where it's at. It's a big initial expense, but when you add up the cost of all of the bolt on parts you've just suggested, you're over half way to blower land....except instead of picking up 20hp with bolt ons, you'll pick up 120hp with the huffer!

I've been down the 2V modular road and if I could do it all over again, I would have gone with the blower first, instead of wasting thousands of dollars on bolt ons that only looked pretty.

That's my .02

I had every single bolt-on available before going forced induction. My opinion?

-gears (4.10's or nothing, ESPECIALLY since it isn't your DD)
-full length subframe connectors (weld-in NOT bolt-on, install on a 4-post lift)
-longtube headers

......then start saving for a blower/turbo or spray it and be done.

All other bolt-ons are worthless and cost $$$, take it from me

Ok but I'm not going that route, honestly I will probably drive the car this summer and sell it. That's what I do. I buy toys and sell them after a few months or a year. So it wouldn't be worth it to put that kind of money into it. So basically I should just leave it as is since you guys are saying the bolt on mods won't do anything? ?

Should have told us that up front. If you're just gonna flip it, leave it alone. Any mods you add to it now, is only going to cut into your profit margin when you sell it.

I wouldn't say flip. I just get bored really fast and always like new and different toys. My neighbors think I'm a freak lol. I come and go with different sleds, atvs, cars, dirtbikes go carts. I don't have a problem putting some money into toys but not supercharger money lol

In that case, just spray it. A good nitrous kit will cost under $1K and you can easily pull it off and sell it when you sell the car.
