Progress Thread 83 Gt Getting Street Worthy

I sanded the rust off the dipstick. Hopefully I can change the oil and start adjusting the dipstick to length tomorrow. At least I can tinker with that until this weekend.. Put the new spark plug wires on as well... Out of curiosity anytime here have pics of how you run your wires to make it look less clustered

Got a little update for y'all... Finally got the bolt out by the heat of the motor and an Allen key and some luck. Had to cut the new bolt down to size to get it to fit. It did have a thermostat in there but was flowing on a cold motor so no good. Was a 160 anyways. Put a new 180 in and a reman water pump. Havnt filled it with antifreeze yet. No rush going to test run in tomorrow's 90 something degree weather rather then in a light sprinkle at night.... If I could get a video to upload if show y'all how it's running now. I it to thinking and a friend reminded me about fuel pressure and with a quick gauge install I found I wasn't getting enough fuel to run it. New pump and 2 new filters later it's running great.. I do plan to clean the carb and new gaskets in the near future just since it has sat and if there could be any dirt in there. Precautionary measure

You and me both lol. I'm much happier to have a new thermostat in there. Hope that fixes the overheating. Will find out tomorrow.. I have a gauge in the back that read 5 but no way to Rev it and look. Put a block of wood on the floor holding 2k rpms and it was at 2 or less psi right at the pump. 500rpm it showed 3 and a half. 250 rpm it read 4. Put a gauge up by the carb and similar results just less. Pump was to weak. That's when I started remembering the pump used to be really loud and wasn't now. My my awesome Mr .Gasket high performance electric universal fuel pump got it going again lol. Not performance really

Today's update. New thermostat housing came with a poorly cut gasket. Got some gasket material and cut my own out and no more leaks from there. Water pump was leaking so pulled it off and put some rtv on it and that leak stopped then once I got that back on I found the heater hose sprung a leak fixed that. No more leaks at the moment. It's starting near normal then rising up almost in the overheating stage but not quite. Then it week drop back down then back up. Gonna try to get it to work then a buddies shop to get it looked at. See what they think about it
