Anyone Added A Steel Frame To A Fiberglass Hood?

I have a fiberglass hood on my '66 I've had for years, and I'm quite happy with the fit. However it doesn't have a metal frame, and I have an old hood in rough condition laying around, so I was thinking of removing the steel frame from the factory hood and glassing it into my fiberglass hood...

    Loc-tite on flywheel bolts?

I have heard some people say you should put loc-tite on flywheel bolts, and others say it's unnecessary. I just put teflon sealer on mine, and torqued them to 80lbs. Sound ok? I just want to be confident before I drop my engine back in. Thanks, Jeff

Did I screw up my pilot bearing?

Ok, I'm 99% sure I'm just fine here, but since I've got so many hours into this project I thought I'd ask before I drop the engine back in... When I got my new pilot bearing, the center bearing part stuck out past the race probably 1/16th or 1/32nd of an inch. When I was installing it into the...

Where to purchase King Cobra clutch? Need to order tomorrow...

I need to order a King Cobra clutch for my car, and the prices went up a lot since the last one I bought. Summit wants $320 for the kit now, and jegs wants $270! A place called Astroperformance has them for $169 plus shipping (Astroperformance.com - Your Manual Drivetrain Specialist), and...

Balancer question, AOD and T5 the same?

I just purchased an engine out of a 1990 Lincoln Mark 7 to put in my 1990 Stang, and I wanted to make sure the harmonic balancer on the auto engine will work with my 5-speed setup. Is there any difference in balance between the auto and stick balancers? Thanks, Jeff

    Piston ring question (budget rebuild)

I'm going to be pulling my engine this weekend to re-seal it and replace the cam and lifters, since one of the roller lifters stopped "rolling" and was making unpleasant noises. While I have it out, I am planning on putting new rings and bearings in it. It's a 1990 engine with 145k miles on...

    Pictures of capri-stang hybrid

I was at a ford show at the local community college last weekend, and I ran across this Capri/Stang. At first I thought it was just a Mustang GT, then when I got closer I realized it started out as a Capri (I think). I think it looks pretty cool with the Capri flares. Anyways, this isn't my...

How much power do high-flow cats free up?

Out of curiosity, how much power do you guys think I could pick up with a high-flow (2.5") catted h-pipe? My mods are in my sig, obviously the '90 not the '66... I've had offroad h-pipes on my past cars, but I really don't want to deal with swapping the stock h-pipe back in for emissions any...

Remove rear spring isolators? (FMS B springs)

I installed FMS B springs a few months ago, and I'm not happy with how high the back end sits compared to the front. I don't really want to cut the back springs if I can help it. When I installed the springs, I put in new polyurethane isolators. Have any of you ever run without spring...

    Problem with Thermactor system?

Ok, first off I'm still running the stock catted h-pipe w/ flowmaster catback, and all smog equipment is hooked up. I've pulled codes, and I get an EGR code I've known about for a while, but I don't remember the exact number. I could figure it out if it's relevant. I don't have any thermactor...

    "Universal" door lock actuators?

Where do you guys get your universal door lock actuators? Neither of my doors lock any more, and I'd kinda like to do the cheap fix. I went to my local NAPA (the only decent auto parts store in my area), and they didn't have a "universal" door lock actuator. I really don't want to go to...

No electrical power at all! Need help...

I was driving my dad's '90 GT tonight which I have been borrowing, parked it for about an hour, and then he went to drive it home, and the car has absolutely no electrical power. No headlights, tail lights, dash lights, and of course won't even try to start. I wasn't there when he tried to...

Fuel line + exhaust is no good...

I washed my car yesterday and then took it for a short drive. When I went outside a little later, I saw a small puddle of something under the right rear of my car in the driveway. I smelled it and it was gas! I crawled under the car and found that the fuel line from the tank to the filter...

Smaller turning radius with new rack?

I just finished installing my new (rebuilt) power steering rack, and took it for a quick drive. I could swear that my turning radius has improved noticeably. Am I crazy, or could I have gotten one from a different year with a tighter radius? It's the "performance" rack, cardone part 22207...

    Parts store genius...

I learned years ago not to buy parts from Schucks (checker, kragen) unless it's a last resort. Anyways, it was a last resort yesterday when I was trying to find a power steering rack for my '90 stang. After searching through his computer, the parts guy informed me: "those don't exist". I...

Need spring compressor in seattle ASAP...

I am doing front springs on my '90 mustang, and I'm not having any luck getting my new ones in. I am looking for the ford "clamshell" type spring compressor to rent from someone this weekend. If you have one, please let me know. PM or respond here. Thanks a lot. Jeff

Car surges when I let off gas

Here's my setup: '90 5.0 5-speed, pro-flow maf, 24lb injectors, paxton SN92 blower w/ fmu. I haven't been through the surging idle checklist, because I don't have much of an idle problem. If that's where I should be looking though, let me know and I'll stop wasting your time here. :D The...

    Firewall clutch adjuster question

The above quote is from another thread. I just installed my MM clutch quadrant, firewall adjuster and non-adjustable cable yesterday. The instructions for the adjuster said it should be adjusted so there is a little slack when the clutch pedal is not pressed, so as not to wear out the throwout...

Are these FMS springs progressive? (pic)

I just purchased a set of FMS "B" lowering springs. It's my understanding that the B springs are progressive, front and rear. From what I remember, progressive springs have the coils closer together at one end of the spring than the other. Two of the springs I recieved don't look...

    Unmetered air through oil filler?

I have a '90 5.0 with a Paxton supercharger. When I installed the kit, I removed the hose from the oil filler to the throttle body. I plugged the throttle body where the hose went, and my supercharger kit came with a hose that goes onto the oil filler and runs into the air filter cover. I...
