8.8 swap: V8 and 4cyl drums the same?

We got a fox 8.8" with the car, but it doesn't have any drums/shoes/etc, just backing plates. Can we use the drums and misc. brake parts off of the stock 7.5? As of right now, I'm under the impression that the driveshaft will bolt up and the 4cyl brake parts will fit the 8.8?? I see 9" and...

    Grease in my tri-ax shifter?

I just bought a nice used tri-ax shifter and noticed that it was covered in grease. When I looked down inside, next to the rear stop bolt, i could see that they had packed the rear half with grease. Steeda's website doesn't say anything about greasing it like this....I'm tempted to clean it all...

    Removing bellhousing with longtube headers?

Got the blown T5 out last night, but the headers look like they are in the way of the bellhousing. I'm not really looking forward to taking the headers off just to get the bellhousing out, but if I gotta, I gotta. Is there a way around it?

    ID'ing a V8 wiring harness?

We're working on the V8 swap from hell car (see sig) and there are frigging wires hanging everywhere. It LOOKS like they used the correct V8 wiring harnesses, but with the amount of thing that just aren't hooked up, I'm starting to wonder if there is a way to look at it and tell if it IS the...

    Professional Flow Technologies MAF? WTF?

Does anybody know what the new name for this company is? I've heard they changed their name to PRO-M and I also heard it was PMAS, and I also heard that they went out of business a long time ago and never re-opened? Anybody know the real dirt? I'm also trying to figure out what size injectors...

What TB do I have? What size is it?

I've got an extra TB that came with the car, and I can't find anything written on it, anywhere. Looks like it might be an Accufab, but I don't know. I also can't figure out what size it it. We measured both ends of it, and the intake manifold side is 70mm bore and the air filter side is to 75mm...

How are you supposed to tension the belt? AC & smog delete

Got an 89LX that's been V8 swapped. Got to looking at it this afternoon (first time I've seen it in daylight) and noticed that it looks like they ripped out the AC and smog and just short-belt'ed it. Whoever it was, they didn't do a real great job, there isn't much belt touching the water pump...

2.3 to 5.0 swap issues in an 88

My dimwit brother in-law who "likes to work on cars" but has the mechanical skills of a goldfish just bought an 88LX that was 5.0-swapped. Took it for a spin to go get his other car because he left it at the guy's house when he bought the Mustang and I started finding problems with the damned...

What is unique on an Explorer intake?

Is there anything unique to the explorer intake? I've got a guy wanting just the intake and throttle body, but I'm not sure what all I can remove without taking off hard-to-find stuff? Looks like the IAC and EGR valve are unique to the exploder? How bout the fuel rail? Or is there anything...

    Anybody ever built a Cobra-spec 4cyl or V8 T5?

I'm looking into building my own T5, since I can't find one that's worth a crap for anything less than a small fortune. So, my question is, what would it take to turn either a 4cyl or V8 T5 into a 2.95 gear T5? Would it be worth it, $$ wise? I see D&D sells a "2.95 conversion gear set" for...

65-66 strut rod bushings & shocktower braces

The strut rod bushing setup includes 4 bushings and 4 washers (enough to do both sides). It is used but very recent judging from the rest of the suspension and in great shape. Heck, it's 10x better than the bushings on my '66. The shocktower braces are the stock bolt-in ones, in good shape...

'65-66 V8 front drum brakes rebuild kit $75

The front drum rebuild kit includes everything needed to rebuild your drum brakes EXCEPT the drums and backing plates. New flex lines, Albany shoes, hardware, self adjuster assemblies, inspection plugs, and wheel cylinders. These are 'used', they were on the car for ten years deadjusted and were...

PerformerRPM intake for 351W $125 OBO

I've got a PerformerRPM intake for a 351W that a friend of mine bought for me when some guy stopped by his house and offered him a bunch of 302 parts. I paid my buddy and took it home. Got to looking at it a couple weeks ago and the damn thing is for a 351W. It's in GREAT shape, no munged...

Alternative to the Rustoleum $50 paint method

I've seen the Rustoleum thing for a while now and almost did it until I stumbled across a website that sells Kirker Acrylic Urethane black for $39 a gallon. To hell with alkyd enamel Rustoleum if I can get the real deal for that! My buddy's shop where I'm working on the car has a compressor and...

Anybody make their own Mk7 rear disc brackets?

Well I have this rear disc setup sitting here and no way to mount it. Add in the fact that I'm too cheap, too broke and too stubborn to yak up the $150+ for the brackets, I'm sitting here wondering if any of y'all have made your own brackets to bolt up the Mk7/Conti/SVO rear discs? I have access...

WTF? No hi-perf pads for SVO rear discs?

This makes no sense, I'm sure SVOs are hellacious road-course cars, so why can't I find anything more impressive than an AC-Delco "superstop" set of pads for the rear? I can get all the Hawk ferro-carbon pads I want for the front, and it just wouldn't feel right to me to have a set of $14...

Did they make an SVO with manual brakes??

Been looking at mastercylinders for my SVO rear disc swap and I found a mastercylinder from an 84 manual brake SVO that seems to be PERFECT. Only thing is it doesn't say "For 4 wheel discs". Did they make a manual brake SVO and did it still have 4 wheel discs? Thanks --Kyle

Well, Scarebird front discs DON'T WORK!!

Well it's official, I didn't want to make this post until I was certain but, the Scarebird front disc conversion brackets do not and will not work the way they are. The face of them is too big to fit inside the rotor, so they hit the back of the rotor in multiple places, and if the nut is...

    Hooker Areochambers anybody?

Anybody got hooker areochambers? What do ya think of them? Sound clips? I hear they're remotely Flowmaster-ish but unique sounding and no drone? I'd like to decide in advance since mufflers are effin expensive and I'm only making $5.15. Hehe. I was gonna get Race Bullets, but those set a new...
