    #2 Intake valve problems

I have had the head worked on by two different machine shops in the past year. After a few months I bent the # 2 intake valve. I replaced the cam and lifters, moved the rockers and pushrods around (Don't hassle me on that) but I still get a bent valve stem on the #2 intake. I need ideas. Thanks

How to have sex in the backseat of a 65

    Bad Vibrations

1965 A block 4 speed. Replaced the rearend with an Auburn about 18 months ago. Replaced the clutch and u-joints about one year ago. When I begin to drive I get horrible shaking and have to ride the clutch. In any gear I occasionally have to push in the clutch to eliminate the vibration...

    Cruise to Mars

Just so someone can break it. Fresno PD allowed all pre-1974 vehicles to cruise Fresno with police escort on Thursday July 22, 2004. It just qualified for the Guiness Book of Records. The police shut down most of the downtown area at 6 pm. 310 cars left downtown in a line 7 miles long...

I have been working on the Mustang. Fixed all my little leaks, bad valve and upgraded to the Pertronix. The car is running "sweet". I am getting 26 mpg and have all the performance I want. So I went to the store to pick up a few things and coming home some kids decided to cross a four lane...

Completely Dumbfounded. Someone get me a DUNCE cap.

Anyone following knows that I had a problem with the head job done by my local machine shop. I rectified the problem with the correct valve and have 135~140 on all 8. Car is running smooth (or so I thought). Had about 300 miles since then and was 25 miles from the house. Getting on the...

    Rocker arm questions.

Having had to replace an intake valve that the machine shop "thought" would work I now have 135~140 psi compression on all eight. As a result the intake rocker is damaged. Everyone wants to sell me "roller-tip" rockers. Whats the advantage? I am trying to keep this car as stock as...

    Machine shop Idiots

Pulled the head on the pony. I had the heads redone just a short time ago because I screwed up on trying to change the cam. The book said two turns which I did and I lost the keeper on #2 intake and bent the valve. Make a long story short, they put the wrong valve in. Would not seal...

    Home made cylinder head repair??

I have heard (rumor, legend, fantasy????) that cylinder heads can be fixed in your own garage. That one can rebuild a head without the assistance of a machine shop. That simple tools will do the same task. I burned the #2 exhaust valve and finally located one from Clevite. (Early 289...

Burned a valve -- now what??

The heads were re-done only a couple thousand miles ago. It looks like I now have a burnt valve. I am reading that "lapping" the valve can cure the problem. (Somebody smarter than me please explain all that is involved in this process) I also read that you should not lap the...
