groaning noise from the PS system

So the weather is getting cooler now, and I noticed a bad noise coming from the steering when the power assist kicks in. I've checked the fluid level and it's between the MIN and MAX. The owner's manual stresses not to overfill the reservoir, so I'm assuming the level it has now is fine. Should...

What am I doing wrong (dragstrip question)

So I've made a total of 19 passes down the strip and I still can't get my 60' down from the 2.3x range. For the last 9 runs I had the rear tires pressures down to 25psi and even then I found myself breaking traction at any launch rpm above 2700. I was slipping the clutch as much as I can...

where to get Halibrand Cobra IIIs?

These are the wheels I'm trying to hunt down. I'm not looking for the real things of course, because I want to save money by going with knock offs. I've already looked on ebay, checked the usual Mustang part vendors and did a google search. If anyone knows where to look, let me know.

    GT springs vs. GT/CS springs

So I have a 08 GT/CS and I just read that these cars have a 1.5" lower ride height than the GTs. Are they talking about the decreased ground clearance due the the front air dam, or does my car actually have different springs than the ones of GTs? If the latter is true, does this mean my ride...

    14.618 @ 3192 ft (DA)

So that was my best time out of the 10 runs I did on my first visit to the track today. Does this look normal? My timeslip is in the car but the 60 ft was a 2.3x and I trapped at 97.xx mph. There was a LS2 GTO that ran a 14.51, a 07 Roush 427 R did low 14s, and a GT500 ran a 13.9. I guess the...

Major clutch chatter when accelerating from standstill

The Friday Night test & tune is coming up at my local track soon, and it'll be my first time at the track. And I wanted to practice my launches on dead roads/parking lots so I can focus on other things when I'm actually there. I got some strong, 3000rpm launches in with no wheelspin. I was...

    TR-3650 fluid

The stock shifter in my car feels notchier than it should be, so I'm looking for any remedies. I've read that the RP synchromax will help make my shifts smoother. My concern is that Ford recommends a ATF and some say using any type of synchromax is a no-no because it's not compatible with the...

    Supercharged S281

So I got to drive one of these today and man, what a nice car. I just wanted to know what kind of shifter is equipped in these cars? I looked on Saleen's website and didn't see any shifters there. Would a Hurst or a B&M bring the same type of feel?

    Which bolt-ons to get?

So I'm just wondering if the following mods on a PI GT help it edge out the s197 GT, given that both cars have a 5-spd and the s197 is stock. O/R Prochamber and MAC catback 70mm plenum/TB and K&N P51 intake and tune And will the P51 retain driveability for a daily driver?

    messin with tire sizes..

So I've been searching the forums while trying to figure out which tire combo is best for the 17x9" Saleen wheel made for 99-04s (the less offset in those wheels look good IMO). And I've read all this talk about shorter/taller tires and I wondered if this has any effect on the computer systems...

    Buy now or wait?

So I've been browsing through the inventory of my local dealerships, and it looks like Ford isn't in that big of a hole. Or did they get the bailout money already? Because the Mustang GTs are in the 31k+ range. For the price of those I might as well get a Bullitt. This is sad because in 04, my...

    12s anyone?

So I've been reading through your sigs, trying to look for times. I was wondering what all it takes to run mid to high 12s in the s197 on street tires without the use of FI/nitrous. What I'm getting at is, I want to know how one would build a daily driven, 12-second stang. Thanks in advance.

    Goodbye Mustang

Long story short, I was out driving and a deer walked into the street. My instincts told me to avoid the deer so I swerved and put it into a tree. RIP Mustang 4/5/04 - 7/24/08. It had all of 30k on it and it's such a shame. But I'll tell myself I'm glad to be alive.

max hp from a NA 5.0?

Hey guys, my name is James, and I just wanted to introduce myself since this is my first time posting on 5.0. (I know, 800+ posts and just one of which are on this forum..:nonono:) Things seem VERY laid back and comical around here compared to 4.6. I've never actually laughed while reading any...

the reliability of a blown stang

Suppose I install an intercooled Mongoose kit/KB 1.7/2.1 at a modest 350-380whp with a tune from MPH, and I drive it daily on a otherwise stock 2V block. Will engine/drivetrain reliability diminish any more than if I were to daily drive it with minor bolt ons? Now, I already know the answer to...

And about the rear spoiler, if my car was yours, would you leave it off or re-install it? I'm kinda on the fence..

    PCV valve question

How often does this need to be changed? Some say few times a year, and others say once every 30k or so. And I'm burning about 1/2 quart of oil every 3k miles. Would a bad PCV valve cause this problem?

positive toe on the rear wheels?

So I was looking down at my rear wheels and both of them definitely had some positive toe, at least from the looks of it. Is this normal? When you go out to your car next time, can you check if you have this too?

    UPR coilovers

Is anyone using these for autox/street driving? Why are these so much cheaper than MM, besides quality differences? Do they not perform as well?
