I would do exactly as you described. If I saw him outside, I would stop in and explain the situation and make things as amicable as possible. As others have said, if he tries to give you giref, he is simply irrational and deserves no more of your time and energy.

That thing is ugly as all get out, but I do have respect for the time and work put into it. If only he used his powers for good insted of evil.
