Installed the stereo into my 66'... questions...

are you sure the polarity (+ and -) of the speakers are all correct? phasing issues can be caused by reversing the polarity of the speakers or the sub, and will be most noticeable in the low end. also, have you done any soundproofing to your car?

carb swap - now engine shakes slightly at idle, etc.

early style 302, c4, rpm air gap intake, holley 4160 i had a 4160 double pumper on the engine, but 2 of the bolts in the metering block were stripped and started leaking. i got another 4160, but with vac secondaries, rebuilt it and popped it on. it idles and runs fine, got the idle mixture...

look at volkswagon red. it's a very red red, with a very very slight purple to it in the reflections. no orange at all. here's my coupe painted in '06 with that year red from volkswagon and a few years later:

strange c4 leak when car has been sitting

i have a '66 coupe, 302 and a rebuilt c4 (10k miles on it or so). everything runs great, however, if i don't drive the car for 10-14 days (i work from home so not uncommon) the c4 will dump fluid on the driveway. this is ONLY when the car hasn't been driven or moved in about ~2 weeks. what would...

Suggestions for cheap and easy weekend projects

careful with using #000 steel wool! i've had a couple different brands scratch chrome or glass when using it. just to be safe, i always use #0000.

    full floorpan - poor fitup

you could cut it along the trans hump and fan it out a bit. lots of massaging with body hammers. for mine, i spliced it back an inch or two and about 2 inches between each cut, tack welded part of it, hammered more to get it to fit, then tacked the next splice, then repeat.

    Inexpensive (relatively) radiator options?

here's what i did. didn't cost much more then $250 if i remember right. scroll a couple posts down and you'll see my pics. if anything, it runs TOO cool in the winter. never use the fan if it's below 75 out, unless i'm stuck in traffic. in 110 heat, it can get to 190-210 in gridlock, but never...

Build Log - 1966 Mustang Coupe

i haven't done anything to the dash yet, i just propped it up to see how it's going to look. i can take some pics of the rear panels and the rear seats. the door panel was a whole lot of trial and error, and i think i can do a much better job on the passenger's side. the dash is going to need...

Build Log - 1966 Mustang Coupe

Here I am going to post my build log for my car. I bought this coupe 2 years ago after i was rear-ended in my red coupe. Long story short, insurance screwed me over and wouldn't fork over enough money to get it fixed, so i decided to just buy a new project. I bought a rolling shell for $2000...

    Cowl Vent Repair

water isn't the concern with the adhesive, it's the structural integrity of holding it all together. is it worth it to you to use the adhesive, have the car painted, then risk the cowl popping off? even if it doesn't come all the way off, it could crack and break the adhesive and create spots...

    99-04 gauges in 91 5.0?

would i be able to just harvest a temp and oil sensor from a 94-95? i would assume the tach is just wired into the coil, so that shouldn't be a problem, i just need a schematic of the pinout on the back of the cluster. the fuel gauge though . . . i would like to find a way to get it to work with...

    99-04 gauges in 91 5.0?

i have a '66 coupe that i'm putting a dash from a 99-04 into. the motor i have in the car is a 91 5.0 and an AOD with fuel injection from the same year. would i be able to use the gauges from the 99-04 with this, or are the sensors tied into the ECU? can i buy different sensors that are...

    Cowl Vent Repair

i wouldn't do anything less then weld it. the cowl plays a part in some of the structural support for the front of the car there, and i would be worried about it popping off the adhesive. if you weld it and grind it, it will be a lot nicer looking finished product as well.
