Engine '67 Mustang 289 V8 Loose Rocker Arm Polylock Nuts Wtf?

Check the ends of your push rods and make sure they are not wearing down. I have the same rockers on my 289. The ends of my push rods were wearing down and it seemed like my rocker adjustment was backing off. It was occurring in a short amount of time. As my push rods wore down, the ends...

Cranking Problem '68 Suggestions Greatly Appreciated

I was having the same issues with my new Edlebrock 500 cfm carb about 6 years ago. I got a wood carb spacer from summit and i rerouted my fuel line (from the pump to carb) away from anything hot. I haven't had any problems since. As for the starting sequence you mentioned, normally there...

    bleeding early 302 cooling system

I changed my thermostat about a month ago and it had the pre-drilled hole. I also have a flush kit installed (it's a driver) and I leave the cap off while filling the radiator. This seems to get a lot, but not all, of the air out.

Air Cleaner Clearance Issue with Export Brace and Maybe the Hood

Is your engine sitting "level" (is the transmission installed or the back of the engine supported at the proper height) in the car? If not, the engine could be tilted toward the rear of the car and that would cause this issue.

    1967 coupe steering issues

The problem could be that the steering box wasn't centered when the pitman arm was attached. If this happens, steering travel will be limited to the stops inside of the box instead of the steering linkage stops. This results in a reduced turning radius in one direction. The other direction...

    5W30 in a 302 '68?

Zinc Additive I am currently putting a zinc additive in my oil in my 65 at each change to prevent premature camshaft wear. So what zinc additive are you or anyone else using?

    Remove Crankshaft Pulley?

"i know some guys use a breaker bar and a cheater bar, and then crank the engine over to break the bolt loose. you might try that." That's what I've done lately. I know it's probably not the smartest way to do it, but I am currently without a compressor to power my impact gun. It works...

    turning radius

I was having a similar problem with my turning radius a few years ago after replacing my steering box. It turned out that I didn't have my steering box centered when I attached the pitman arm. The steering box would hit it's internal stop in one direction before the the steering system could...

I don't think the GT package was available with a 3-speed--just automatics and 4-speeds.

    Gas mileage on a 68 stangs' 289ci 4.7 liter v8?

My stock 68 289 2-Barrel, 3-Speed coupe would get 25 mpg on the highway. That was back before the speed limits went up. It amazed me that I got such good milage. I guess it shows what a proper state of tune can do for a stock engine. The 2.79 gears didn't hurt either. I haven't checked my...

    10 x 2" drums

I didn't change backing plates and everything works just fine--no drums touching the backing plate and no air gap. Maybe I got lucky and my parts just interchanged with no problem. I got the wider drums at a local parts store.

    2100 Carb Re-Jet

Give Pony Carbs a call at 1-888-280-4949. I bought new jets from him. I think there was a minimum order amount, so I had to buy a rebuild kit also.
