    HVAC question

No clue as to why the recirculation is working that way. According to the Ford Workshop Manual for the 2007 Mustang, if the FLOOR mode is selected, a small amount of air will come out of the defrost and side demister vents. If the DEFROST mode is selected, a small amount of air will come out...

    Dusty engine bay

I am not familiar with this particular product, but some interior detail products contain silicone. You don't want to use a silicone product in the engine bay. The vapors may get sucked into the air intake and cause problems with various sensors.

What? They didn't replace the cabin air filter or the fuel filter?

    U3 paint code - 2007 vs. 2008?

I have never heard of using the same paint code for different colors. I have heard of a color being called something one year and the same thing the next year, but the code is different, as is the color. For example, Performance White code WP is a different color from Performance White code HP.

    New / Old Battery Problem?

Well, you turn all the electrical components in the car off and wait 3/4 of an hour. If you are drawing more than 50 milliamperes, then you start pulling fuses until you find the one that indicates the circuit that has too much of a parasitic draw. If the parasitic draw is less than 50...

    2005 Mustang GT erratic idle

Don't do that. Carb cleaner is generally much stronger than something designed to clean throttle bodies. Many throttle bodies have a protective coating that carb cleaner will strip off. CRC has an aerosol spray that says it is safe for the protective coating on throttle bodies. Or use a...

    Draining Battery

Parasitic draw is the current that the computers draw when the car has been shut off for at least 40 minutes. It is typically 20-30 milliamperes, but up to 50 ma is considered okay. It is somewhat of an involved process if you are not familiar with how to do it. My dealer did it for me at no...

    Fuel

I have the stock tune and use Chevron 87 octane. Back in the old days, the premium grade had a better additive package than the regular grade. In the case of Chevron, that is no longer true. The additive package for all their gasoline sold in the United States is the same. I didn't ask the...

    Driveway ramps?

Griot's Garage sells driveway-gutter curb ramps. I have no idea whether they would work for you, or what the quality is. I am just throwing the idea out as a possibility. Good luck.

    Why black-out the rear of a S197?

Why does anyone make any appearance mod to a car? Because they like the way it looks, and they want the car to look different from stock. If the Mustang had a black rear panel as standard equipment, some people would be painting that panel to match the color of the rest of the body...

    Detailing Guide

Very good info. Thanks. I have found that if you don't like the way a particular product works for you, try something else. I love Meguiar's Synthetic Spray Detailer 135 (just don't use it as a lubricant for a clay bar--too much lubricity according to Meguiar's) and their edgeless M9910...

    TPMS question

If your tires are underinflated to the point where the TPMS light comes on, the light should turn off when you inflate the tires to the proper pressure and drive for 2 minutes at over 20 mph.

    NHTSA Action Number PE08060

NHTSA has an ongoing investigation regarding alleged defects in the tire valves on certain 2007 Ford vehicles, including the Mustang. The investigation is as to whether there is a safety hazard because of the cracking and leaking of the tire valves. According to an Associated Press...

anyone think of putting a tach on your hood?

I really wish you hadn't posted that. :D It got me to getting nostalgic about the old days when cars had fenders with the outside rear view mirrors mounted on them, pretty far forward on the fender. You didn't have to turn your head to see if someone was coming up behind you. :nice: And now...

anyone think of putting a tach on your hood?

No. I like the Mustang retro look, and I don't think Mustang ever had a hood tach as a factory option. I don't recall seeing a Mustang with a hood tach, although that is not to say that no one ever added one. I think that the GTO had a hood tach as a factory option that was somewhat popular...

    octane and oil thoughts..

Thanks for the info on the Ford specification for motor oil and the other information and advice. I have found differing information in different Ford publications. For example, the wheel lug nut torque specification is different in the Owner's Guide than in the Workshop Manual. I don't...

    octane and oil thoughts..

Unless things have changed since the 2007 model year, the oil is to be changed every 5000 miles or six months, whichever is earlier. And the oil, even if dino, must meet Ford Specification WSS-M2C 930-A with API Certification Mark. I have no idea what that specification means. As to...
