1967 Mustang Fastback, Needs Final Completion, Northwest

Jim (horse sence), Thanks for your kind comments. I feared that I would get responses about how stupid I was to have spent so much. You never add it all up until you have to sell. I was shocked myself when I totaled it. I love cars and think that working on them is therapy. Incidentally...

1967 Mustang Fastback, Needs Final Completion, Northwest

Speed, You are indeed correct. The "01" in the VIN indicates "coupe." In the above section "Body," I indicate: "Coupe to fastback conversion utilizing Dynacorn panels, Drake Customs, Lake Havasu, AZ." The VIN is correct (fender and door) for the car. I thought I hade made it clear that the...

    Quarter Vent Help Please

:flag: I bought my '67 fastback as a shell (no engine, drive train, suspension, interior) so I have been buying a lot of assorted pieces from eBay and the Mustang catalogs. I had it running yesterday so I'm making progress. Problem: I bought a couple of used quarter ("sail") vent assemblies...

I Hope I'm Not The Dumbest Klutz in the U.S.

Final Chapter :flag: Thanks for all the thoughtful responses. I thought I would provide the Final Chapter. Sadly, draining the tank, removing the filler tube, buying a 2 inch mirror (NAPA) all failed. I finally removed the tank, tipped it tail down, took out the sending unit and fished it...

    Shelby Grille on '67

:flag: I've always liked the GT350 effect of a plain (black) grille with a tri-bar pony on the driver's side. Since my '67 fastback has a 351W, I would want the "351" version. Questions: - Is the pony just a fender badge? How would I fasten it? - Anybody know where I can find a plain...

Hack, Thanks, I feel better. Spent yesterday finding a light and mirror that will fit in the tank. Wish me luck. Hipobuzz

I Hope I'm Not The Dumbest Klutz in the U.S.

:flag: Thanks for the suggestions. I have removed the filler neck. I'm off today to find some sort of mirror small enough to fit in the tank. It would help if I knew where (roughly) it is. Hipobuzz

I Hope I'm Not The Dumbest Klutz in the U.S.

:flag: My '67 Fastback is back from the paint shop and is starting to look like a car. The engine is in (351W, Trick Flow heads, Heddman "hedders" and Delta 40 Magnaflows). Now for the dumb part: I bought a 5 gallon plastic jug and filled it with Premium. The jug came with a plastic filler...

    Looking for NW Mustang club

Thanks guys. Shadow was nice enough to correspond directly and clear up the mysterious x'es. I found a site: themustangshop.com that has a list of clubs in the area. I think I'll just make some of the meetings and get acquainted. I retired last year and have decided to spend the Winter in...

    Looking for NW Mustang club

:flag: I live in Anacortes and am roughly halfway through a restoration on a '67 FB with 351W, T-5. I plan for it to be driven. I'm looking for a club that goes places rather than toothbrush-and-Q-tip showing. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks, Hipobuzz

    67 FB Fuel Tank

:flag: I got my '67 FB as a shell so there are a lot of mysteries in restoring it. I have just installed a new fuel tank and need some help. The side and rear edges fit fine and the screws line up. The forward edge (closest to the engine) does not meet the trunk floor by about 3/4ths inch...

    67 Fuse

:flag: I am looking for the little (5/8th in) fuse in the middle of the fuse block on my '67. It says: "2.5 A, Inst Lts." I suppose that I should just upgrade it to a modern blade type but that's down on my project list. Anybody know a source? Also, who knows where the water goes that comes...

    Off the Wall, Version 2.0

:flag: Thanks for the responses to Off-the-Wall 1.0. I really appreciate it. Next: (a) My rear valance ('67 FB) is sprung at the bottom. There is 3/4 in. space between valance and lower rear fender. There appears to be a threaded shaft inside of each side but I don't see what it fastens...

    Off The Wall

:flag: A couple of off-the-wall questions: My '67 FB is starting to look a little like a car. The engine-bay crossmember went away when I installed my Randall's Rack (and Pinion). Now what do I attatch my winch to when I put the car in (and out) of my trailer? I have seen "Transport Hooks"...

early 67 fixed steering column bearing

ChiTown, I have the same problem with my early '67 restoration. Did you ever come up with a solution? Best wishes, Hipobuzz

    67 Steering Shaft Bearing

:flag: I am midway in a '67 fastback restoration. So far have installed 351W, T-5z and a Randall's Rack rack and pinion. The steering shaft is a long (non-rag joint) item and I want to keep the original column (for esthetic reasons). Problem: The upper shaft bearing is missing and I don't...

    Electric Fan Thermostat

:flag: Have just installed an aluminum radiator in my '67 Mustang fastback, 351W, Edelbrock Performer intake. I am planning to put in a 16" electric fan with a thermostat control. My questions: (1) It seems that the thermostat sensor has only one contact. That suggests that the circuit is...

    Drop-base air cleaner

Final solution :flag: I appreciate the recent submission from ZO6 (and I love the Grabber Blue on his car). The final setup seems to be 7/8th K&N drop base with a 14 x 3 K&N filter. The clearance is roughly 3/4th inch to the hood and the linkage works well. Thanks all, Hipobuzz
