checking pushord length with hydraulic lifters

Alright, I have the factory stamped steel 1.6 rockers on there. What I did tonight was I installed the adjustable pushrod then the rocker and torqued the rocker to spec. I then adjusted the pushrod until it was snug against the rocker. This would give me zero lash with no preload on the lifter...

checking pushord length with hydraulic lifters

How do you guys check what length you need? I have the pushrod length checker tool but doesn't the lifter need some preload so would I need to buy pushrods a little longer than what I measured or would buying pushrods at the measurement I take be fine?

    96-98 Cobra v/s 03-04 Mach 1

sorry to revive such an old thread, but I used to be in the Ford ASSET program at mt hood community college and we had a mach 1 mustang and several other mustangs and a chassis dyno. When we put a 3 valve 05-09 mustang rated at 300 horsepower we were getting approximately getting 240-245...

    Gutting Factory Cats/H-Pipe??

expect it to take some time to do. Your exhaust will sound raspier and louder afterwards. I used a pipe and a prybar to get down into mine. Do realize the catalyst material is worth good money though.

1990 5.0 runs fine when cold but terrible when hot

vacuum leaks will generally cause the car to run rough at idle and will smooth out as you put more load on the vehicle. I would start tackling your codes first. 21 is an ect related code so I would double check that your vehicle is getting up to operating temperature and not overheating. You...

    3rd gear rattle?? T-5 problem

First of all have you checked your transmission fluid level and this is only happening in third? I don't think that would be the throwout bearing. Is the noise kind of a whining noise by any chance?

    Head Plugs blowing out

wow, I've never heard of that happening before. I've heard of people blowing radiator hoses and heater hoses under large loads but never a plug. Interesting

TFS stage one cam has no keyway

Thanks for the offer. I used some vice grips and managed to twist and pull out the old one. Marred up the old pin pretty well but I filed the high spots and cleaned it up with some emery cloth. Now it's installed on the new cam. I think I'll be fine with that.

TFS stage one cam has no keyway

My new cam has no keyway. There's just a hole where one would be at. Is this right? How am I suppose to put this together? well apparently my old pin should be able to come out fairly easily. I tried yanking it out earlier. I guess I'll have to try again. managed to get that pin out with some...

engine rebuild connecting rod clearance issues

yeah, my crank is definitely chamfered and so are the rods. I didn't take such a great look at my rod bearings though. I'll take the part number off of them and see if my shop got me the right set of bearings. The bearings also have tangs on them so I doubt I could have installed the bearings...

engine rebuild connecting rod clearance issues

Um the way they balance the rods/pistons is to get them to all weigh close to the same as each other so I don't see how moving them to other cylinders would throw a single thing off unless you're reusing old bearings. I called my machine shop and told them I was just going to switch the pistons...

engine rebuild connecting rod clearance issues

I'm reusing the stock rods. I think what I did is I installed the rods backwards. If I install the pistons on the opposite bank I'll have the rods facing the right direction but the numbered rods wont be with their cylinder they were originally assigned to. The block is bored and honed and I'm...

engine rebuild connecting rod clearance issues

I'm rebuilding my 302 and I'm having some issues here. I bought new pistons and pressed them on the rods and now that I'm putting the motor back together I can't get 2 rods to fit on one journal.
