Mega Ford Weekend at Mission BC

I thought the Mega Ford rae was great too. I made a total of 12 passes, and could have made 1 more, as I sat out the 3rd time trial on Sunday. I was runner up in Open Comp, which was the largest class, having 6 rounds of eliminations. Lets see, a dozen passes, a RU trophy and $300.00, and the...

Did i need a Starter spacer?

Do you know what flywheel you have? On my 85 Mustang 5.0, I replaced the original 157 tooth flywheel with an earlier style McLeod 164 tooth unit. My McLeod scattershield has both bolt patterns, to work with either size flywheel, but the 164 tooth flywheel has the ring gear located further...

Do I need a spacer plate on my t5?

Yes, you will need the block plate, as it is what locates the starter in the correct location. Be aware that there are a few different block plates, depending upon the diameter of the flywheel used. I`m pretty sure that any T5 5.0 block plate will work with the stock size 157 tooth flywheel.

    I-90 weather conditions

Hi, I live near Vancouver BC, & I need to pick up a car in Othello Washington soon, possibly tommorow or Tuesday (Jan. 3-4) Anybody know what the I-90 thru the Snoqualmie Pass is like during the day about now? I see that they are calling for snow on Weds or Thursday, so I`d like to get there...

    m, r, s code ??

71 429`s Nope, the 360HP 429 Thunder Jet (big car & Torino-Montego) was coded "N" The 429CJ was a "C" the 429SCJ was "J" On the 428`s, the non CJ versions were "Q", but these engines were only used in the Galaxie, full size Mercs &Tbirds. These cars never had the Cobra Jet version. Also...

    Shelby C6 differences

C6`s I don`t believe that the Shelby C6 would be any different than any other 428CJ C6, but there are several differances between a CJ C6 & say one from a 390. The CJ trans has a cast iron tail housing, the larger "R" servo, as well as extra clutches inside. Since a 69-70 GT500 would have a...

    Front fenders different?

Thanks, but I don`t want to relace my 85 nosepiece, just the fenders. Anybody know how everything fits?

    Front fenders different?

Thanks, guys. Does anybody know if these fenders will bolt right onto my 85 Mustang? I realize that I will have to drill the mounting holes at the front section for the stock fiberglass lower "filler" panels. Any other concerns that you are aware of? Thanks.

    Front fenders different?

I have heard that the front fenders on the 90 or 91 Mustangs had wheel openings that were 1" longer than the earlier cars. Supposedly, when the 16" "Pony" rims came out, that was when the change was made. Can anybody confirm this? Also, if this is true, would all the cars built after the change...

    Where`s Othello Washington?

Hi, I live near Vancouver B.C. Canada, & I am interested in an older Ford thats located in Othello. Somebody said that it`s near Yakima, is that true? If so, I would have to guess the desert like weather conditions would be good for minimal rust, right? Thanks.

    390 In a 65?

I did it years ago. Back in the mid 70`s, I had 64 Falcon 2 dr. sedan that I swapped a 390 & C6 into. Although I did cut the shock towers back closer to the coil springs, & modified the firewall for the large round FE bellhousing, the suspension components were all in the original locations. I...

How to get a 67 coupe into the 10's?

Horsepower Myths I think most people think they have a lot more power than they really do! My buddy has a 3200 lb 79 Mustang HB (302, ported E7 heads, C4, 4.10 gears), with slicks it normally runs 12.3-12.4ET`s @ 106-107 mph, he recently had it on a chassis dyno, where it pulled 265 rwhp. I...

    t5 28oz flywheel?

What I did.. When I converted my 302 78 Fairmont from a C4 to a T5, I bought a stock, used 86 & newer 10.5" flywheel (50 oz), from an auto wrecker. I then took the flywheel, along with my original auto trans flexplate (28 oz) to a local engine balancing shop, & they balanced the flywheel to the...

Did mach 1s come with a LSD?

The only 69 & 70 Mach 1`s that came stock with Nodular cases were the 428 CJ cars. They also had 31 spline axles, while the 351 & 390`s were 28 spline. However the Traction Lock was not standard equipment, but rather an option. Most of the 351 cars I`ve seen came with open diffs, while most of the...

    E5's?

Unless you run a class that requires you to use the E5 heads, I certainly wouldn`t! They have 69cc combustion chambers, so very low compression (my 85 Mustang is only 8.4.1 comp. with these heads, with factory flat top pistons). They also have a much bigger exh. port bump than the later heads.In...

    Manual Steering Rack

I have switched a few FOX cars to manual racks, using the manual racks found in 78-82 Fairmonts, & 79 -82 Mustangs & Capri`s. There may have been some 83& newer cars with man. racks, but I have not come across any.Although the actual steering shaft is the same, the splined coupler that connects...

Open end LOCKING lug nuts for Draglites??

Since the studs only need to go into the hex portion of the lug nut 1/2", you should be OK as long as they are long enough to accomplish that. Even if that length makes the stud a bit too long, you could add an extra lug nut washer underneath your wheel lock. I see you are in Alberta, since...

Open end LOCKING lug nuts for Draglites??

Not aware of any such thing. I have seen guys cut 1 stud per wheel short enough to use a regular Mcgard wheel lock.

DO you ice your intake after runing at the track??????

Works on most carb`d combo`s too! Back about 20 years ago, I had a pretty much bone stock 69 Mustang Mach 1, with a factory 428 Cobra Jet, C6 auto & 3.50 gears. It also had the functional "Shaker" hood scoop that sits on top of the air cleaner housing, & allows outside air into the air cleaner...
