Forced Induction 89 lx code 56 at high rpm

I just got done installing a Vortechs introductory level supercharger on my 1989 LX. It seems like it runs great and has good power but I just noticed when doing a few hard pulls while trying my best to maintain traction, the CEL would come on at around 4500-5000 RPM in 3rd or 4th gear, and...

Ho Vs. Non Ho Rebuild Kits

I am rebuilding my 89 5.0 engine, just rings and bearings, and was wondering why many of the kits specify "for non HO engines". The kits that specify that they are for HO engines cost more. Are the bearings different? Is it just a ploy to get more money out of customers? Or is it just the...

    Help With Serpentine Belt

It may work to just run a piece of string around the pulleys and then cut and measure and then subtract an inch or so for the tensioner.. I've never tried this but it might work if u need a custom belt length

Cruise Control Interrupt Switch Manual Transmission

Thanks a bunch Saleen0679, I went and looked again and found it buried up behind the radio. It has a plastic push pin which looks like it'll attach to the brace you pointed out. I'm surprised with the difference in wires from one side to the other. Is this the right one, and if so would you...

Cruise Control Interrupt Switch Manual Transmission

I have an 89 LX with the 5.0 and manual transmission. Since I purchased this car the cruise control has never worked. While looking under the dash I noticed the 2 wires coming from the interrupt switch by the gas pedal, but operated by the clutch pedal, is disconnected. My question is where...

89 Mustang Gauge And Electrical Issues

I did get the car to start using the key today. Previously I posted about not knowing where 2 wires on the transmission harness were supposed to go. The 2 wires came through the tunnel one white/pink and the other red/green or red/blue... It looks to me like the opposite side of this...

89 Mustang Gauge And Electrical Issues

I got the dash out and heater core replaced, which is why the dash came out. what I found was when I pulled the gauge cluster the electrical connector on the tach side was only partially connected and the speedometer cable pulled right off without releasing the tab. This interior has obviously...

89 Mustang Gauge And Electrical Issues

Well, I didn't replace the dimmer switch but I cleaned it up and used some 400 grit sand paper to lightly touch up the contacts. Everything with the dimmer looks fine, but still the same issues. I almost have the dash out, and have found some more grounds along the way. Will clean those up to...

89 Mustang Gauge And Electrical Issues

Thanks for the replies guys, I just got done changing the main ground from the batt to the timing cover and changed the secondary from back of block to firewall. I also cleaned the other grounds I could find like the one by starter solenoid and headlight grounds by radiator. Unfortunately...

89 Mustang Gauge And Electrical Issues

Hi everyone. I have been having a lot of electrical issues with my 89 lately and looking for some help. The main thing I am concerned with is that when I turn on my headlights my temp gauge, volt meter, and tach all go crazy, basically the whole dash minus the speedo. I recently replaced the...

    89 mustang 5.0 crazy headlight/dash gauge problem

Anyone know how this problem was solved? I am having the same issue with the temp, tach, etc. going crazy when I turn on my headlights. I've checked the two grounds for the headlights, the engine to firewall, battery to fender and they all look good. I read elsewhere that someone thought it...
