    brakes

Had that happen with mine too when put a new master in. Didnt adjust the pushrod correctly, and everytime i'd brake, front wheels would stick. Adjusted the pushrod, and had no problem since. I'd say, check pushrod first, then check proportioning valve. If all that checks out, see if those new...

    Progress Thread 1/4 mile guess?

Appreciate the feedback...@lilcbra i'm open for suggestions! It's a work in progress, nothing happens over night as you all are aware of. Thank you for the suggestion. I was already thinking about upgrading to 15" wheels, probably 15x8 would be ideal to fit without cutting the wheel wells. I'll...

Thermostat Housing- leak that wont stop

Unfamiliar with 2.8L engine thermostat gasket/location. Does it sit vertically on the engine? If so..get some weatherstripping adhesive, smear it on the backside of the t-stat, and stick it in place before putting the housing on. Let it sit a good hour. Problem most people (myself included)...

    Progress Thread 1/4 mile guess?

I agree..traction will be the biggest challenge to face..Not sure what other option for a tire to go to. The only slicks I can find for 14" wheel will be bias ply. From what I hear, it is unwise to run a rear bias ply tire with a radial up front. Thanks for the input guys, what an awesome forum.

    Drivetrain 78 Ii 8" 3.80???

Thanks for your input guys. The heads i got on there now are smog d8oe heads, low compression-probably around 8.5-1. Like i said, going to supercharge next summer, so hopefully itll wake it up some. It's a light car, and already it moves if i try, but as always, looking for even more power ;)...

    Drivetrain 78 Ii 8" 3.80???

Hi guys, Have a '78 II, with a 302- mild crane cam, forged rods, hyperuectic pistons, weiand intake, headers, and a holley 600 vac sec carb roughly 210hp to the wheels-with a c4 trans. Currently have an 8" rear end with 3.00:1 gears. Looking to change the gear ratio out to a 3.80 or a 4.11:1...

    Dead Again

Yes they do make tanks for these. I just bought one probably about 3 months ago, it was fairly expensive, but since it is a slightly rare car, I can see why. It is about $200 for the tank and around $50 for the sending unit (give or take a few $$). I would not order the parts until you've...

    Dead Again

It does sound like it is fuel related...it could be the carburetor has dirt in it..or again it could be a ton of crap in the gas tank, as was the problem with my II. Those gas tanks just seem to rust out from the inside. I would drop the tank, there are 2 straps holding it on each side. put a...

    Dead Again

Do you have 5-7 psi of fuel pressure coming from the fuel pump? I'm assuming it is mechanical? If your car surges you could be having low fuel pressure from the pump to the carb thus killing the engine under acceleration.

Engine 78 Mustang Ii 302 Factory Mess Up, Very Weird!!!

Hey guys, so I recently rebuilt a 78' Ford 302 to go into the '78 Mustang 2. Forged bottom end, hyper pistons, D80E heads (i know, its smog era), Crane cam, Holley 600cfm vac secondaries, and a Weiand street warrior intake manifold, & headers. Anyways, after rebuilding it, I used the stock...

    Something Broken In The Head

Use a lifting chain off Amazon or Ebay if the lifting plate doesnt work. bolt the chain into bolt holes on the heads diagonal from eachother so the chain can lift the engine evenly. USE GRADE 8 BOLTS!!!

    77 Ghia 2.3 To 5?

5.0's can be simple to install. If you go on Ebay or summit, you can find motor mounts maybe for the II or another year mustang and fabricate them in. If you chose to use the C4, a regular c4 will be able to fit, but a little tight. I have one from a '69 mustang, and the bellhousing sits close...

    Oil Weight?!

I usually run Pennzoil 10w40. Of course I live in Chicago so the winters here are brutally cold!! 15w40 should be fine, however if you chose to run Pennzoil, Valvoline, Mobil 1, etc, make sure you use a ZDDP additive for that flat tappet cam!!! If you chose to use Rotella, you do not need an...

Engine 78 Mustang Ii Engine Swap

Thanks for the reply guys, really appreciate it. I will definatly consider what everyone mentioned about the BBC and other options as well. Its just I have the 454 bare block from 1969 just sitting and waiting, which is why I was considering it. However, for now, I want to enjoy the 302 and save...

    Oil Filter For 302 - Fl1a Or Fl300?

I use the FL1a, and it BARLEY fits in the mustang 2. I might start using a shorter filter, maybe WIX. I would stay away from fram though.
