99-01 PI to PI Intake Manifold Swap Writeup

This is a great and very useful thread, it merits an occassion bump to the top. Hartdt, did you figure out the problem?

Problems w/ new build, need suggestions

Thanks for your response, below is the dyno chart. I made peak tq at 6000 rpms. HP and boost keeps climbing, but we stopped at 6500/19 psi. http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q14/TonyG_2007/IMG.jpg The Reichard intake has short runners and is more gear for forced induction/high rpm...

Problems w/ new build, need suggestions

I just finished up my new build, with an 04 Cobra Shortblock, TFS 44cc 2v heads, T-trim, 10% OD dampener and RR intake. It made 598 rwhp on the dyno at 19 psi/6500 rpms. Then the engine started making funny clacking noises. We thought it was a rod knock at first, but then it mysteriously...

    Remanufactured Transmissions

I can tell you my experience. My stock T-45 lasted for 200 passes on the dragstrip at the 400+ rwhp level. I was so impressed that I got it rebuilt locally, using stock components. The rebuilt unit lasted 20 passes. Tried a rebuilt T-45 from Promotion Powertrain, that was beefed up to handle...

    Question about adjustable quadrant

Does it have a firewall adjuster? If so you can turn the adjuster in towards the firewall a few clicks (usually clockwise rotation). This will loosen the tension in the cable and lower the engagement position of the clutch pedal.

    finally a new best, 11.20's @ 125-128

Believe it or not, with the centri blower it's very tame on the street. It even feels kinda slow. On the track though, when you open it up it turns into a monster.

    finally a new best, 11.20's @ 125-128

Got a new best ET and MPH (in different passes). My MPH was all over the place though the day, varying from 124-128 mph in my 6 passes. Not sure if its me or the track timers. Anyway, I'm glad I got a new best ET, and I wonder what's holding my stock shortblock together. I'm #47

    Vortech driveability

Jimmy Larocca, right? I used to have an autologic/locked timing tune from him. Driveability wasn't that great, but the car ran awesome at the track with the locked timing.

04 Cobra shortblock in a blown 2v GT

I'm considering getting an 04 Cobra shortblock for future use. Keeping it 2v, and with an S-Trim blower, what other modifications would be necessary? I've read a lot of posts and I'm getting a lot of different information. Here's some of the stuff/concerns I heard: (1) Need new...

New shifter feels mushy in 2nd and 4th gears

I just installed a tri-ax shifter on my T45. Shift stops were set correctly, and the plastic bushing was in place. Shifting into 1st and 3rd gears feels very solid and crisp, but 2nd and 4th feels a little mushy. Any idea what could be the problem?

Wierdness after changing IAC valve... did 50Resto send me the wrong part?

I remember Randy S. telling me the black cap thing is some type of vent

    new times with blower cams

I previously posted dyno sheets after my blower cams install. There were 2 tunes: race gas & pump gas. Pump tune made 502rwhp/430rwtq. The race tune made 518/465 on a different dyno which reads a litttle low (different tuner) I finally made it to the track, and here's my best ET with the...

    IAC Valve + boost Leak?

I've always been suspicious of that little black cap on the IAC, which is suppose to be a vent. I would like to know more about how/when it vents.

ATF leak thru shifter at high rpms

So I removed the breather/vent tube from my T45. This is what it looks like: It's a simple rubber tube opened on one end (the end that goes into the tranny), and closed on the other end. The round bulb thing actually opens up like an umbrella like this: Now along the wall of...

ATF leak thru shifter at high rpms

Yes, I'm quoting myself...I thought about it and imagined how thats possible. ATF expands when it gets hot. The air occupying the space needs somewhere to go, hence the vent. If the vent is clogged, pressure builds and pushes the fluid out the shifter. OK I'm game. Now I guess I'll try to...

ATF leak thru shifter at high rpms

Will a clogged vent tube cause the fluid to overflow like that? If its clogged and I unclog it, does it just means that the tranny fluid will pour out of the vent tube rather that the shifter?

ATF leak thru shifter at high rpms

While racing at the dragstrip, I was getting an ATF leak from somewhere. The fluid level is/was filled perfectly level with the fill hole. I initially thought the ATF was foaming up and venting out of the vent tube on my T45. But that wasn't it. I took the cover/boot off the shifter and...

Any tricks to align/shim quadrant position to mate with cable

Cable is OEM, quadrant is UPR triple hook, adjuster is Fiore. The OEM cable was cut right on hte end, where it meets that hat-shaped metal piece. Clutch action felt nice and smooth, but the cable must have still been slight rubbing against the hook of the quadrant.

Any tricks to align/shim quadrant position to mate with cable

Most aftermarket quadrants come with spacers (washers) to set the quadrant position correctly. Well, although I used their spacers, my UPR quadrant must not be aligned well with the hole in firewall, because my stock cable snapped after about 10k miles. It must have been rubbing slightly...

T-45 oil leak (or burp) during 1/4 mile pass

If you're running the car hard (like a long burnout followed by a 1/4 mile pass), is it possible that the ATF in the T45 gets so hot that it expands and leaks out somewhere? Does the T45 have vent tubes for such situations? At the end of my pass today, the track official waved me over and...
