trying to find a bellhousing is like a quest for the Holy Grail ...

thanks Daggar for those links, they better be prepared cause the quest continues ... Too bad Ebay isn't that popular yet for car parts here in Belgium. It would be great if I could find a stock bellhousing, gonna try the Ebay thing. Never bought something from it though, there's a first...

trying to find a bellhousing is like a quest for the Holy Grail ...

I've called every shop I can get hold of, nobody has the Ford racing bellhousing for the T5. Even the Mcleod unit is hard to find these days. It's so frustrating, the only thing I still need after months of hard work is a bellhousing, and I'll be able to test the new engine ... The Lakewood...

So, the new engine arrived this afternoon !!! :D Best day ever, until I noticed that a whole bunch of parts like carb, pulleys, pcv valve, ... won't fit .... but anyway, problems for later on The opportunity was there to check if the Timken 202FF bearing will fit the new flywheel ...

    quadrant on a 79?

Maybe I should just order the quadrant and give it a try. As you mentioned, if it doens't work I'll start looking for another pedal assembly. I noticed in the Haynes manual that the stock quadrant needs a spring > I'm going to order an aluminium one, do they also need a spring? It's not...

1979 5.0 Heavy Duty Suspension??? Help

This is something you have to decide for yourself. If you want the car to respond quicker in corners, or if you're not happy about how the car handles in the front when braking very hard, you could try to upgrade the bushings to 'heavy duty'. I like a smooth ride so I choose stock or something...

    quadrant on a 79?

Myeah, some people say it will work, others say it won't ... I'll try my luck and see how it goes :nice: If the tranny breaks I can always get another one, but I have one laying around, why let it waste away? Besides, I didn't post this to start discussing about the do's...

    Dura Spark II

Does the engine still have the 83 distributor installed? If so, my duraspark unit just had 2 bundles of wires : - 1 bundle of 4 wires where 3 of them go to the distributor, the one that's left over (green) is for the tach and also goes to the coil - 1 bundle of 2 wires that power the dura...

    quadrant on a 79?

I guess you're refering to your 86, that came stock with a plastic quadrant? The 79 model only has the small bar (that can be removed) with a pin where the cable attaches on. Maybe a quadrant will just bolt on instead? Or are there other parts needed to be able to use the quadrant...

    quadrant on a 79?

(I did a search, nothing came up :( ) Last week I ordered a new engine to replace the old tired 302 in my '79 stang. WOOT !!! (M-6007-XE3M) In meanwhile, I was thinking about changing some other parts too. There's a T5 laying around somewhere in the garage that comes from a 2.3 that...

wierd 3rd hole in upper intake (carbed)

Before I buy a new intake I'ed like to know if the covered 3rd hole has anything to do with the engine not running right. Tried google this morning, nothing came out. Why would anybody want to have burned gasses in the intake ?

wierd 3rd hole in upper intake (carbed)

I'll try to keep it short, cause this problem has already gone a long way, and is taking too much of my time ... :( My engine has started misfiring and backfiring for a few months now. So far I've changed : - new carb, Holley 500cfm, 2bbl ( didn't change a thing) - new fuel pump...

this is my last resort ... 5.0 giving me a hard time

I put the distributor 180° out, just to see what'll happen, and it doesn't start. It keeps popping in the carb, so I'm sure that the timing is OK. Tomorrow I'm going to try the firing order, it doesn't seem logical that I've got that wrong, but maybe I'm just to focused on the timing issue...

this is my last resort ... 5.0 giving me a hard time

Computer has been swapped, I tried another one, still backfiring. Can't drive the car like this, the backfire can't do any good, and doing 40 mph on the highway should also be interesting :) Plugs are gapped at .032 Maybe my spark plug cables are too resistant, and at load they don't deliver...

    Please help.. Major overheating problem

it's a different engine, but my dad's V6 would also overheat. We installed a new radiator : went great for a few days, but after driving a while, still overheating. Thermostat was the next replacement, we tested the old one, but still, for 10 bucks, just get a new thermostat. Nothing actually...

this is my last resort ... 5.0 giving me a hard time

No go, I just spent all my free time last month on swapping the carb engine :) thank's for the input, there is some great stuff mentioned here - fuel pump is actually new, got it a few months before the swap, it's a Holley red pump. Makes a lot of noise, but the fuel gets in the carb :d...

this is my last resort ... 5.0 giving me a hard time

yeah, that's one of the first things I checked, there was some white dirt on the connections inside the cap, I just sanded it off. For the rest the cap is really clean, and looks new. No visible cracks or other damage at all.

this is my last resort ... 5.0 giving me a hard time

The engine comes from an other car. When I bought it, she ran and drove like a beauty. I swapped the engine into my car, using all electronics and engine related parts from the donor car. I drove the donor car for a week and a half, I was convinced that the engine was fine. I then proceeded to...

this is my last resort ... 5.0 giving me a hard time

over the past 2 weeks several mechanics tried to fix my 5.0, none of them really had an idea of what's going wrong. I'm not a professional mechanic either, I can do most repairs, solve some problems but this is freakin me out  The engine starts fine (carbed 5.0), idles fine without...

what kinda V8 is in there ?

I just bought a indy red 90 GT, with a lot of rust, to swap tranny and V8 into my 79 2.3t. :D The GT runs and drives really great ! :flag: But it's a carbed engine ? I wasn't really worried about it, I just thought the swap would be a lot easyer if it's a carbed motor. But...
