    Painless install help.

You don't need the ballast with the Petronix setup. The ballast basically regulates the current to protect points ignition. I wouldn't mess with the diode unless it will void any warranties if you leave it out. I would just put an in-line fuse in that side if it were me to protect from surges...

    289 value?

I didn't have room to store the 289, and the numbers don't match mine either:D I thought about building the 289 first, but wasn't sure about the cost of machining, ease of matching parts, and cost in general. I was looking at this engine...

    289 value?

I was thinking about selling my c-code 289 and buying a new Ford Racing engine for the fastback. I have no idea what a complete 289 is worth. Any suggestions?

Gas door from newer car on 67 fb?

I saw a project somewhere about putting a gas door from a Taurus on the side of a classic mustang. Everyone that owns a mustang close to my year(maybe more) knows how frustrating it can be to fill up and the restriction from the sharp angle of the tube going into the gas tank causing the gas to...

    Anyone seen a sealed cowl?

I haven't done anything to mine yet. This was a pic of someone else's car. If you cut the slots then you leave the cowls open and direct air over the engine through the slots. I have bypassed the cowls for my heater. That was why I was looking at sealing them off, but this pic has almost changed...

    Anyone seen a sealed cowl?

I was thinking about doing that to my fastback until I saw this pic. It is supposed to cool the engine compartment by 20% more with the cooling slots in the cowl. Now I can't decide.

    intake manifold install

I would not use just the gasket sealer if that is what you mean. You will have the same problem down the road. Permatex is not designed to work that way. It is only supposed to help seal the gaskets. The only right way to do it is to reinstall the manifold and gaskets. It helps if you put a...

    Rustoleum durability?

I am having the under carriage and engine bay painted with urethane. I was going to paint all the smal parts with the spray paint. Suspension, brackets, mainly just the loose parts that won't be seen or aren't part of the body color. I was going to use primer and satin black.

    Rustoleum durability?

How many of you have used rustoleum (spray can) on exterior body parts, and how long has it held up? I am having the whole body e-coated and painted. I was thinking about stripping and painting the small pieces at home. I liked being able to not have to mix up paint for a few pieces, and don't...

    Body dipping

For my 67 they qouted 1500-1700 for the shell. That was dipped, rinsed, and they dip it in a rust preventative. The e-coating company said 1000. So for about 3000 I will have a completely rust free car with e-coating in every nook and cranny. I checked into sandblasting, but you can't get the...

    Body dipping

I am planning a trip to American Metal Cleaning INC. in Ohio soon to have my fastback dipped and e-coated once I get all the cutting and welding done. They use a non caustic (non acidic) chemical that will remove everything for about the same price. They recommended a company just down the road...

    66 brake problem

Did you bleed the master cylinder? Not sure about 66, but the 67 has a piston in the distr. block that will stick and ut the fluid off to one side. Not trying to be a smart a@#, but if you replaced the entire system I would have replaced the distr. block too. You can't imagine what gets stuck in...

    welder suggestions...

Hobart is a generic Miller. There really is not enough difference to justify the price difference. You are paying for the name when you buy a Miller. I have welded and fabricated for 15 years and have used them all. I currently own the Hobart 140 to do projects at home. It will weld just about...
