    2000 GT Starting Problem

Yeah its very possible that they didn't replace the o-ring between the fuel pump and tank. The gas is probably sloshing around when I drive and pooling up on top of the tank. I'm taking it back to the shop for sure to get this fixed.

    2000 GT Starting Problem

I had a shop replace my fuel pump a week ago and everything looked good until I filled up my gas tank a couple of days ago. I keep my car parked in the garage and overnight it makes the garage smell like gas. I’ve checked under the tank several times and there is never a drop of gas on the...

    2000 GT Starting Problem

My mechanic verified the injectors and COP are working. Crossed my fingers and decided to replace the fuel pump. The Mustang is alive again!!! :nice: I was one of the few people who actually had a bad fuel pump instead of an electrical problem. Thanks to wmburns for all the helpful info.

    2000 GT Starting Problem

Today I got a more experienced mechanic to diagnose the problem. He said that he is indeed seeing 12 volts at the inertia switch and didn't note any problems with the switch itself. Please correct me if I'm wrong but if he's seeing 12 volts at the inertia switch than that should rule out any...

    2000 GT Starting Problem

Wow thanks for all the info. PM sent. I tried that on Friday with no signs of improvement. I cycled the key on and off at least 10 times and I didn't hear the fuel pump make a peep. I also accessed the schrader valve on the fuel rail and there was absolutely no pressure in the fuel system...

    2000 GT Starting Problem

I forgot to mention that the theft light stays on for a couple of seconds when I turn the key to on and then the light turns off. When I try to start the engine, the light turns on again for a second and then turns off. Doesn't look like PATS is acting up based on the theft light but I have read...

    2000 GT Starting Problem

I have a stock 2000 Mustang GT with 90,000 miles. I can’t get the car started and I know that the fuel pump does not run when the key is first turned or while the engine is cranking (can’t hear the whining noise like usual). There is no pressure at the fuel rail when I try to start the engine...

    Spark Plugs, Beam Torque Wrench?

The connection between applied torque and the number of threads in the head comes down to shear strength and the axial load due to torque. The shear strength is determined by the shear area which is a function of the thread engagement length. The shear area is the helical contact area between...

    Plastic intake= garbage:mad:

 Getting a BS in 5 years isn't too bad. That was 8 semesters, 1 internship, and 3 co-op work terms all together. Would have been 4 years if I didn't do any internships or co-ops but thats what got my foot in the door for my current job.

    Plastic intake= garbage:mad:

That's some nice detective work there twogts4us.:nice: But you missed one little detail. Notice my join date of November 1998. That would mean if I was still in high school, I would have joined Stangnet when I was 5 or 6 years old. :rlaugh: Haha, looks like I haven't updated my profile since...

Here is a little more light reading for those of you that think the world is still flat and heat transfer is black magic. Time-Resolved Heat Transfer in Engine Intake Manifold It sure is cute when non-engineer types are so horribly wrong. They are always so confident with their...

    Plastic intake= garbage:mad:

I'm sure anyone who would make bold statements like these would have a basic working knowledge of fluid mechanics and heat transfer. Especially concepts such at the Renyolds and Prandtl numbers that are so critical when estimating the heat transfer characteristics within an intake manifold...

    Lowering Springs

2 wheel alignment is all you can get with a solid rear axle. Alot of people will say you do need CC plates and some will say you don't need plates. The only way to know for sure is to install the springs and get an alignment done. The alignment shop will let you know if they can't get the...

    MM CC Plate Spacer Question

The MM CC plates come with spacers that move the strut top a couple of inches higher above the strut tower. Take a look at the FAQ section on the MM website for an explanation of why. When you get an alignment the struts tops may end up in a totally different place since they are sticking up...

    MM CC Plate Spacer Question

What about it would be dangerous? I would be able to relax the spring to where it doesn't have any compression. I installed the struts, shocks, springs, and cc plates in my garage and I don't understand what the problem would be. The eibach springs are short enough where I can lower the control...

A Kenny Bell 2.1L would make a pretty good replacement over the stock intake manifold. :rlaugh: You might see a small bump in power.

    Plastic intake= garbage:mad:

:notnice: You sure about that? I'm a mechanical engineer and I don't even know where to start with that comment. Keep in mind that designing parts for a production car is no easy task. There are so many variables that must be considered such as manufacturing cost, raw material procurement...

    Lowering Springs

Yes, an alignment is manditory after installing new springs. Don't put it off or your front tires will get torn up really quick. New struts and shocks are a good idea if you have worn out stockers. Leaving them on will result in a harsh ride with lots of crashing and banging. The non...

    MM CC Plate Spacer Question

I just installed Maximum Motorsport CC plates on my 2000 GT and I setup the spacers per MM’s instructions for lowered cars. The strut top to hood clearance was fine before I got an alignment (did the play-dough test). After the alignment the passenger side strut top ended up too close to the...
