Thinking of getting a Cobra...what to look for

Typical stuff, try listening for the 'tick', also check to see if it has the stock air tube, if it doesnt, consider this a red flag for modding (meaning car has been beat on). I'd recommend a trip to auto zone and check for any stored codes too, good luck

    Need Help!! '96 Cobra overheating!

sounds like you developed an air bubble in the system. Try refilling and burping the system once car starts to heat up. This can be accomplished by slowly and carefully opening the cap on the overflow tube, just a little, until fluid starts pouring out, then tightening it. I've had this problem...

    TKO 600

Yes, but you willl need to buy a 26t clutch disc and a bellhousing. If you want to reuse your existing clutch, consider TKO500, which uses 10t input shaft.

    98 Cobra, yes or no?

2003 was the first year for the Eaton superchargers. I think you would be very happy with 96-98 Cobra. With 10k, you should also have some money left over for mods. I recommend adding a Vortech kit and some gears, and you could match or beat the 03/04 Cobras

    New 04 Cobra...clunk when I engage 1st gear

As a high school drop out, I take great offense to being compared to a Ford Dealer Tech. You crossed the line buddy :)

    302 swap?

If you are talking about your 97 GT, it will be a PITA. Almost all body wiring will need to be swapped, need a different tranny (T45 doesn't match 5.0 bolt pattern), it will fit the mounts, but a lot of other things would have to change. The better way would be to buy a 94-95 5.0 stang and use...

    160 or 180 Thermostat?

Definitely want the 180. You only want to cool the block to a point. overcooling will wear out your rings a lot faster too. (Block contraction + high rpms=unseated rings). You might be better off just changing your fan temps (with a chip).

Thinking of getting a newer car and have a few questions

In most applications the 4.6s are very reliable. Police Crown Vics (which has a 2v, just like GT) are getting better than 200k before major problems (I've seen a few make it around 300k). On Mustangs, they are usually good to about 140-180k (mine went at 150, rings of course). People tend to...

HELP NEEDED questions about engine swap

The 96-98 Cobra swap is not to bad, especially if you get a complete pull out motor (see them on ebay all the time). When i did mine, the cobra motor still had the wiring harness and accessories on it. Plugged it right into the cars wiring, got chip from modularmadness.com, and fired it up. No...

GT to Cobra swap IMRC question...

No problem. Here is a link for a diagram that i found of the IMRC wires that can be accessed from the engine bay PCM connector. My setup is also a 96 GT with a 97 Cobra engine, so wiring should be identical. The tach wire is Tan with Yellow stripe (connected to instrument panel)...

GT to Cobra swap IMRC question...

Question 1: GT wiring doesn't support the IMRC controller, regardless of PCM used. What I did was use an RPM activated switch to activate them IMRCs. It's pretty easy to do, all you have to do is tap into the PCM connector on the passenger side firewall, find the power wires (Blue/Yellow for...
