Ford, PLEASE put your best V8 in the Mustang!!! I'm begging...

If they go with a DOHC version of the 4.6, I'd expect about 320 horsepower, assuming they use variable intake valve timing. If they use variable exhaust valve timing as well, that figure could be even higher. But I highly doubt they would do this for a Cobra. (Now a Mach 1, on the other hand...)...

I DON'T NEED NO STINKING HEMI

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, after years of making "Jet" (read: 2-door wagon) variants of Aston-Martins, Bertone has turned to the Mustang! ;) Very nifty photochop! ... oh dear, I just thought of something... Since Ford is making a new RWD Fairlane (or Galaxie) for 2006... I wonder if...

Ford, PLEASE put your best V8 in the Mustang!!! I'm begging...

There most certainly is-- it's called decent engineering. GM and Chrysler are becoming too "old school" in their powertrains-- most of their V-8's date back nearly 40 years! They even still use pushrods! And then GM wonders why their powertrains are outclassed, outgunned, and all-out OWNED by...

New Mustang is slack. Lets pit Ford America against Ford Australia!!! *56k warning*

Yeah, that Barra 182 is definitely a sweet motor. I really wish Ford would have used it in the base Mustang. Just alter the tuning a bit, compromise a few lb/ft for some more hp and it would be perfect. A 250 hp straight-6 Mustang? Where do I sign up! Even though it already has variable intake...

old news for the gto owner

Indeed... Thank you, Rampant, for being one of the few who realize that. 2005 will be the final year of the Omega platform, which underpins the Holden Monaro (and, consequentially, the Pontiac GTO). For model year 2006, GM will be using the Zeta platform, which is a re-engineered version...

    Wife's jealous...what should I do now?

The answer is simple- get her the convertible this Spring. Then she can do the whole shopping/makeover thing with her girlfriends in style. You'd be amazed at what driving a chic cabrio can do to wifey! :D On that note, just about anything that will make her feel younger would do... but...

new to mustang and seek advice

Welcome to the board, chief... Getting a Mustang GT now would definitely score high on the "instant gratification" factor, as more of them are currently being loaded into dealer lots... But the GT will not be the highest-performance model. There are going to be special edition Mustangs...

05 Roush *6 PICS ALL SIDES*

While I feel obligated to stand to be counted with the majority in that this thing looks too "ricey" for my taste, there is some good to be seen in this... ...Ricers now have incentive to buy and mod a REAL car. Any chance that hood scoop is functional? Maybe it is a bit much for those...

    5 spd vs. 5 spd

If the 4th and 5th gears in the T-3650 MTX are "mileage gears", I'm wondering how nobody (as far as I know) has yet complained about the 5th and 6th gears in the T-56 M12 in Pontiac's GTO? For reference, those are 0.74 and 0.5, respectively. The GTO's final drive is also lower than the...

Whats up witht he new GT tires size?

I thought they were going with 18's, hence the higher final drive ratio?

Dodge really muffed the new Charger

Yeah. Owning a '96 Caravan has taught me that much. Had more problems with that thing than the Escort I currently drive... and the Escort is a higher-mileage car! Wow... I honestly didn't see that one coming... though it is worthy of note that the 3.5L Dodge V6 has almost as much horsepower...

Dodge really muffed the new Charger

FINALLY!!!!! Someone freakin' GETS IT!!!!! Thank you, lawman, for bringing sanity back to this thread. And, in case your occupation fits your username, both the Magnum and the Charger are supposed to be available as cop cars by the middle of 2006. Now, let's watch Ford's Crown Vic suddenly...

Dodge really muffed the new Charger

You know, with a simple Google search, you could find out just about everything you're guessing at. Yes, the Magnum, Charger and 300 are ALL based off the LX platform. Yes, it has a high beltline, as per the Magnum and 300. It would cost too much $ to change that. According to Car and Driver...

Dodge really muffed the new Charger

Actually, yes, it can. 4-door muscle cars do exist in the pages of the Muscle Car Club (MCC), including the Fairlane and Galaxie. The defining factor of a muscle car is its powertrain-- NOT the number of doors. So, yes, the Charger, equipped with the HEMI V8, is properly defined as a muscle...

Dodge really muffed the new Charger

Depends. Let's see how well the M5 and M6 sell against each other... Dodge has placed themselves in a very unique portion of the market-- cars for new family men who don't want to give up their 'stangs and camaros. In this context, the new Charger fits in nicely. Personally, I thought the...

Dodge really muffed the new Charger

Umm... ... what, exactly, is the point of a Magnum sedan when the Charger technically IS a Magnum sedan? On another point... ...just about everybody has been missing the real point of the GTO and Charger-- they aren't meant to look like the originals. If the originals were continued...

I hope no one ordered this Color!!!

The Mustang and Mustang GT share the exact same color pool. So, yes, you can get a GT in Legend Lime... ... but I think both Legend Lime and Windveil Blue look so much better on the V6. Putting either color on a GT would be too much like trying to put them on a BOSS or Mach 1... both of which...

What I Would Like to See!.

I'm also very opinionated, and I must say that I like the fact that you chose Screaming Yellow as your base in your Photochop. What I would like to see: -- The 4.0L straight-six from Australia's Ford Falcon. 245 hp, 280 lb/ft. Should be beefy, smooth, and free-revving. -- A slightly...
