    3.73 or 4.10 gears???

Put 3.73s in my 2004 GT automatic. Drove a 4.10 equipped car.....felt like too much for a street car. The 3.73s made a big difference in acceleration. I used Ford racing gears. FYI

    Oil Change Before Storage?

The 10 minute idle in the winter builds up a lot of condensation, especially in the exhaust. If you want the best protection for the engine, buy a can of Marine Fogger oil. Pull off the air duct on the throttle body, and spray in the Fogger oil until the car stalls. All the internals are now...

    Oil Change Before Storage?

I guess you never disassembled an engine before. There is oil on all the internal surfaces. The engine can sit for 5 months and it will still have oil on the bearings and other places. And, you will get oil pressure after the starter rotates the engine 2 to 3 times. The 7-10 miles of driving...

    Oil Change Before Storage?

Some of these posts don't make any sense......First, used oil has acids and contaminents in it. As it sits in the engine, these acids attack bearings. So, old oil left sitting is MUCH worse than new oil. Second, running the car for 10 minutes builds up a tremendous amount of moisture. This...

Is It Tough To Install Catback Yourself?

My dad and I installed a Magnaflow cat back on my 2004GT in about 90 minutes. We put jack stands under the frame to get the back of the car high enough off the ground. My dad has an exhaust cutter that looks like a pair of vice grips with a cutting chain on it. It cut the tail pipes off in...

    Gears 4.10's 3.73's 3.55's????

I did 3.73s in my 2004GT automatic. The car is a daily driver, and the gears really help the acceleration. If I raced it, 4.10s would have been better.

    Good differential shop in Mass....

I used Mitchell Differential Service in Shrewsbury, Mass. to do a gear swap. Excellent work, good price, and a family owned business that knows customer service. They also build custom rear ends and driveshafts too.

    Installed the 3.73 Gears Today....

I have not been on the highway yet. I did raise the shift points up using a Hypertech Power Programmer. The car is MUCH quicker, especially 0-60. Based on how the car drives, I would say that 4.10s may be a bit much for a street car. A drag car would be better with 4.10s, IMHO

    Installed the 3.73 Gears Today....

After lots of research, I decided on 3.73 gears for my 2004GT automatic. I was debating weather or not to go to 4.10s. Well, I can say that the 3.73s really woke her up! :D Happy with the choice.

    4:10's, 3:90's, or 3:73's

I am going with 3.73s. My car is a 2004GT automatic. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was best for me. The car is not raced, so the 3.73 gears are good for what I want. If you race the car, then 4.10 is best. BTW - you need to drive a car with 4.10s first. the low...
