    cooler damaged AODs ?

Thanks for pointing out the order of plumbing. I always knew motor oil needs to be as close to operating temperature as possible or engine would take more wear. Never quite considered it for the automatic, since it always seemed to feel better when it was cold. Possibly because the fluid is...

    cooler damaged AODs ?

Knowing that trans coolers drop line pressure ... has anyone damaged their AOD with the use of an auxiliary cooler ???

    Loose Steering (Everyone Read)

Recently, I've seen some posts relating to the steering column feeling loose. There is even a web page out there documenting the fix for it. The data on it is, unfortunately, incorrect. There is no need to remove the multifunctional switch to expose bolts underneath it. These bolts are...

    Exhaust sounding wierd now...

Hmm. I think it may just be a normal "aging" of the exhaust system. I think most cars with good engines and harder usage eventually get like that too. Overheating the exhaust system may also have a lot to do with it. It is interesting that you would notice the change, as I think the change...

    Exhaust sounding wierd now...

Something with exhaust must have gotten loose when got on it. I had a similar thing happen to me. I got a pipe loose while going up a hill. It was a little rusty in that part. No parts came off, just the weakest part gave up under backpressure. It didn't sound like what you describe though...

    Why the mustang?

Oh, boy. That's quite a question you got there. I think most people choose a car mostly by the looks of it. It either fits their taste or it doesn't. I bet some GM owners would only drive Firebirds and never Camaros. Just a different look, I guess. Now that doesn't mean I consider...

    paint problems

You'll need flexible paint. Flexible gray shouldn't be a problem. Not all brands are equally good in this area either. I got mine at www.levineauto.com It wasn't 100% exact match but the quality was exactly what I was looking for. Don't be afraid to spend some money on flexible paint. You...

    What Oil weight to use?

    how is your guys' ebrake??

I don't know about the '91 but my older Fox had a nut near the pivot of the hand brake. I adjusted it until I couldn't move the car on the 3rd click. You may need to remove the center console or at least some of it.

    Subframe installation done right

Is it possible to install subframes without a drive up ramp? If the shop doesn't have a ramp, :( is there a special way of lifting the car? Or am I better off passing on a shop without a ramp? :nono:

    tire age

Age of the tire isn't anywhere nearly as important as the brand and price of the tire. I had an unknown brand for a long time and had nothing but handling problems. Now with Goodyear it's a whole other story. They sure don't need any tire treatment to look good. They make a ton less of...

    High Powered New Cars

At idle the GTO sounds like any other V8 Camaro or V6 Grand Prix. I wouldn't pay for such wimpy sounding car, if it had 600 horsepower. There's a lot of Grand Prix's that are starting to have the GTO hoods, but I don't see many drive a GTO. I guess that's what they think of the GTO.

    Forged internals question

I read the crankshaft was lightened, which means weakened. It should outlast the block though?

30 seconds cold idle fixed ...

Heh, heh ... you're right, I don't know where the timing was. Plus, I don't know where it is right now either. At one time I may have over advanced the timing and never noticed the clicks on acceleration. Acceleration doesn't feel as aggressive but cold idle is much better.

30 seconds cold idle fixed ...

I definitely suspected the EGR spacer for which Ford created and updated part (I believe) a few years after 93. Well, I was planning on replacing that, except ... I did recently clean the distributor, which naturally changed ignition timing a little. Rather than timing it the way I usually...

Mods you wish you had not made???

Magnetic oil plugs. Leaked pretty badly, unlike the OEM standard plugs.

Ford's official answer to what gears you should put in your car

I would bet all SOHC and DOHC do better with 4.10, but nothing less. Their torque is all way up.

    Official SN Power Adder Poll

I'd think that turbos take way too long to spool for the 5.0. They're good in high gears, like on a dyno, or on a highway. Low gears probably wont spool the turbos until nicely into the redline. If you spend most of the time in low gears, you might as well have a centrifugal s/c.

    Custom subframe

Ok, I know some fans put together their own subframes. No big deal, right. :nice: Well, I've been to all hardware stores in the area. They just don't have anything that could be used. :notnice: Where do the custom subframe guys get their "custom metal"????
