Torch vs. Redfire - What's your preference?

Hehe, I thought it was pretty creative :nice: . I'm curious to see how it pans out in the end.

Torch vs. Redfire - What's your preference?

Hey Losing Louie, is this your auction?: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4515343826&category=6737 If so, here's the thread that brought attention to it: http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=12379

    Made up my mind

Thanks for posting all that info (most of it I had no idea of). It certainly raised awareness to steer clear of these cars :nice: As far as your decision, great choice (though I'm biased, of course :D )

    Burning smell from under car

Mine had an awful odor until it reached about 300 miles or so. No need to be concerned, it's normal.

Torch vs. Redfire - What's your preference?

I chose Torch because I felt that it made the car sort of 'come alive' even when sitting still. I intend to add some aftermarket wheels and tint the windows, so either of those changes will be complimented by a bright color. No plans to make a clone of the classics, so Redfire didn't fit into...

    Whats up with C&D???

C&D has never been the same since David E. Davis Jr. left the helm in '86 to create Automobile magazine. But, they still seem to "err on the side of big dirty fun" (quote from a Taurus SHO vs Nissan Maxima C&D story many years ago in which the SHO won), hence the reason the Mustang came out on...

    Anyone catch this?

I found another preview story on the 'net that says the tire sizes are 225-50-18 fronts and 255-45-18 on the rear: http://www.auto123.com/en/info/news/previews,view,Pontiac.spy?artid=31674&pg=2 Not sure who's correct

    K&N Filter

Yeah, I'm curious as well to know if there's some HP benefit (no word on K&N's site). One thing that concerns me, though, is that I've read of at least one person who dyno'd his without the filter and came up with a HP/TQ loss  I'll reserve judgment till seeing another dyno run with...

Is Windveil Blue a feminine color?

I've spoken to quite a few females about my '05 (gf, female friends, friends' wives, etc). After showing them a brochure, they overwhelmingly chose Windveil Blue as their favorite color. Not saying it's a feminine color, just relaying my experiences...

de code the VIN last 6 digits

Mine was built the week of Nov 8th and the last numbers are 12xxxx, so I don't think your '11' implies that it was built in November. I noticed that the four digits preceding the last 8 digits have varied between simularly-equiped GTs: some are H255xxxxxx, H555xxxxxx, or (like mine)...

    Review: Steeda Under Pullies

Agreed, that's something to be concerned with (especially for those of us with the Shaker 1000). 2005RedGT posted on another forum that it's had no detrimental effect on the electrical system thus far (and he also has the 1000), so keeping fingers crossed. I'd like to get these pulleys...

    Pro's/Con's for the `05 GT?

Thanks for confirming that :nice: Yep, a trunk sub and 2 amps aren't worth $1200

    Shaker 1000 ?

Yes, we realize that difference. The part in question is Ford's claim that the 1000 system contains 9 'audiophile' speakers, whereas they don't say that term in the advertisement for the 500 system. I was hoping to see more for my $1200 than trunk subs and 2 amps :nonono:

    Problems with the power window.

There's a procedure in the owners' manual that shows how to recalibrate the window.

    'Check Engine' light

Well, just got back from the dealer. The results of the code check turned out to be something a bit more complicated than an O2 sensor. What they found was that the ECU detected a misfire (during deceleration) of coil packs 'B' & 'D'. The tech consulted with Ford engineering and concluded...

    'Check Engine' light

Yeah, I'm extremely nervous about the first two. The Shaker 1000 was an expensive option (one I chose reluctantly because of the $$, now may regret if problems arise) and a tranny issue would keep the car in the shop for weeks :(

    'Check Engine' light

The light came on after turning over to about 200 miles. Took it to the Ford dealer who thought perhaps I'd left the gas cap loose, but we checked and that's not the case. He said to come back if it didn't go off after 45 miles; it didn't. Got an appointment with the service dept tomorrow...

Should the Mustang have won Motor Trend's "Car of the Year"?

Another of Motor Trend's big blunders was in 1989 when they gave the title to the Thunderbird SC, a decision that not even Ford Motor Company agreed with. Recalls, reliability problems, etc, cursed the car even before Motor Trend crowned the SC as the winner. That alone is reason enough to...
