    Well, I had asked about lifter noise recently and found the problem last night. She went BOOM. Oil pump failed! ***** Too bad too. She was running so good. Plans have changed now. Gonna build it. Let ya know in a couple of months how it turns out.

    I agree to a certain point. Forced induction cars have big fuel upgrades (for instance), no back pressure is needed there. Stock, I agree, especially on these 5.0 motors, won't run right. Here is an interesting link...

    Well, like I said, less back pressure = need more fuel You take away back pressure, it causes a lean state. Just like any other mods you do to your car, it will effect the way it runs. Every change you make needs to be compisated somewhere else, if the computer can not do it.

    New problem. My lifters are dramatically tapping at every start. They pump back up after 15 seconds or so, but this just started happening recently. What should be my next approch?

    Steel bolts in an Aluminum housing (Water Pump)

    Well, ARP sells a stainless steel bolt kit for this situation. So, I am thinking that I can just drill the heads of the bolts off and pull everything off, then unscrew the rest of the bolts. Sonnds ok to me. Does it sound too easy to ya'll?

    In my opinion, turbo tubo turbo! You can make more power without major modification to the motor. Regardless of what others may think, a custom single turbo setup is about the same price as a s/c setup. I am not a drag racer. When finished, my car will be an everyday to work and back 500 hp stang!

    :bang: Well, here is another design flaw (in my opinion). I tried to chage my water pump yesterday. It is the original pump (140k). The bolt shafts are corroded to the water pump housing. They will not come out without breaking. Any tips or suggestions?

    ok, cats are comming off, next week. Running 93 octane and I pulled some timing out of it. Still lean. So, I will take care of the cats, then o2, then adjustable feul pressure regulator.

    bone stock ,with a K&N. New distributor, new plugs, new filters, clean trottle body, no vaccum leaks, new wires, new blaster coil. Everything else under the hood is original.
