    Replacing Scratched Antenna Base?

Did a real dumb thing -- antenna was on too tight, took a pair of pliers, wasn't thinking and scratched the plastic casing around the screwhole (NOT the black bezel, but the black plastic that surrounds the threads where you screw in the antenna itself). Now, I've placed a black plastic...

    Weird Question -- Funny Smell?

Turns out it was a plastic bag melted to the exhaust pipe. They scraped most of it off. :)

    Weird Question -- Funny Smell?

Thanks for the ideas, guys. Yeah, I'm taking her into the shop tomorrow so they can have a look on a lift. I've crawled all underneath the car with a flashlight, and I can't find a thing. All the wires, lines, bushings and such look clean and tight. On the driver-side rear wheel...

    Weird Question -- Funny Smell?

Okay, this is an odd story, so bear with me. I have a 2005 Mustang V6 automatic with about 28,650 miles on it. Last week, driving home from work, I noticed a funny smell, like melting plastic. It was very, very faint, sort of like the odor you'd smell from a glue gun. Everything...

    V6 Reliability?

Sorry to hear that, 05StangGirl! My machine goes in for its 20K service on Wednesday. Now, my miles are very easy -- I only use my Pony to commute to work and back, about 80 miles a day, almost all of it highway driving. I don't trust CR, either. Glad to hear everybody else is getting...

    V6 Reliability?

Last night I was in the supermarket and I saw the new Consumer Reports car-ratings issue. As an avid Mustang owner, I had to have a look. Turns out that CR recommends the S197 Pony, but they dinged the V6 for possessing below-average reliability. Me, I've put 20,000 trouble-free miles...

    Opinions: Mustang's worst feature

I'll second that one. As for MPG, I've got a V-6 and I've been getting a combined 25 mpg for highway/city driving on my daily commute. Just gotta use that cruise control on the Interstate.

    Able to be covered?

You sound pretty level-headed, Stang V-8. Why not invest your cash or use it for college, and put off that Mustang for a few more years? There's no hurry.

    Able to be covered?

But if you've got $12K saved, why not just make a substantial down payment on the vehicle to lower your monthly installments? If you own the car, you (or your dad) can always sell it to recover the equity, whenever you want. Leasing, you are locked into those payments, and there's not much you...

Comments on my Tinted Fog lights & black pony

Looks like you did a clean job! I'll bet the blacked-out pony is one of those things you need to see in person to really appreciate. Photos probably don't do it justice. :nice:

Pics of Roush Spoiler and Window Louvers

Looks great -- another cool Sonic Blue! :nice: Funny thing is, I spent years driving my '66 fastback and wishing I had windows where the louvers were, like on a Shelby. Now, guys wish they had louvers where the windows are! I wouldn't mind having scoops over the windows, too, like on a...

    Black Paint

Yep, my Sonic Blue 05 has that same pinprick on the hood, and it's white. You can barely see it, but I know it's there. :(

    Got ran off the road!

Tell y'all what, back when I was a teen, I drove a 1971 MG Midget. Now, a Midget is essentially a four-wheeled motorcycle. It ain't much more than a street-legal go-kart. Every weekday for a year, I drove that Midget to work on Interstate 45 in Houston. And every weekday for a year, I had...

NO NO NO NO !!! not by baby !!

Yeah, I park way in the back, in parking lots, near a curb and as far removed from other cars as I can manage. Garages I try to avoid, because they're always so crowded. Heck, I won't even drive my pony downtown, if I can help it -- no way I'm going to parallel park. Myself, I'm always very...

    Die-Cast S197 Mustangs?

Cool, I'll sit tight. Yeah, I doubt anyone will make a V-6 version, but a die-cast GT is fine with me, so long as it's the right color. If I wasn't commuting 400 miles a week, I'd be driving a GT anyway ... :)

    Die-Cast S197 Mustangs?

Ford is selling a Windveil Blue die-cast model on the Ford Collection website. Only problem is, my pony is Sonic Blue! Anybody know whether a die-cast manufacturer is planning on making more colors available for the S197 Mustang?

    Hating the Cheap Shaker 500

My pony was built on 5 April 05. Not sure if I have the A or the B. I have had a few instances of skipping, but just a few. Haven't had it happen for quite some time, though, been months.
