    Hose Wizard R134a Conversion Wiring?

I put a Hose Wizard R-134a A/C conversion kit in a year and a half ago and never wired it up (its the wifes vert and has been sitting for a while, cut me some slack!) and now I can't find the stinking instructions but I don't think it covered wiring at all. So can anyone let me know what needs...

Convertible Top Differences 83-90 vs 91-93?

Does anyone know the specific differences to spot to tell the difference between 83-90 and 91-93 tops? I have an 1988 convertible, but I believe that it has a 91-93 frame on it. The rear bow for the top has a plastic cover that is screwed on underneath the top rather than using the rear strip of...

Convertible Top Cable Clips - Where To Buy?

Thanks for the heads up. I tried them along with Late Model Restoration and no one seems to make these things. :bang:

Convertible Top Cable Clips - Where To Buy?

The cables help secure the top to the frame. I would order some new ones if yours have snapped.

Convertible Top Cable Clips - Where To Buy?

So the convertible top hold down cables are held on by small aluminium clips that are riveted to the top frame. Of course I managed to break one when clamping it back down over my cable while replacing my top. I checked with the local dealership and verified that these are (of course) no longer...

How do you check for exhaust leaks?

That works like a charm everytime. Just dont cover them really tight cause your car will stop running from not being able to get the exhaust out. Just like the potato on the tailpipe trick.

white stain showing up on cyl heads

If they are in the garage then condensation can build up if you are going through some temp changes. Keep em covered in a trash bag when you arent working on em.

    valve Cover Bolt Snapped!!

I usually just notch the bolt with a dremel cut off wheel and back it out with a flathead screwdriver. If that dosent work for you, you can weld a nut on top of the broken bolt and back that out. That is if you have/know someone with a welder.

aftermarket stereo in 91 lx vert

I just went through this myself. From what I can figure out you are supposed to remove the factory amplifier, then follow the 8 pin square plugs from the factory amp back until they lead to a 6 and 8 pin rectangular connectors (one is black, one is grey). One you plug those in you will get power...

Stereo Install, Power But No Sound?

I had purchased another bypass harness but it was the wrong one. So I called Metra tech support and they harness number they gave me (70-1770) was the exact same style as what I had already bought from Best Buy. Do you remember how yours looked? Currently my setup looks like this from what I...

Stereo Install, Power But No Sound?

Great, new problem. Ok, so I bypassed the factory amp. Apparently you just remove the amp and unplug the 8-pin square connectors on top of it, then trace those wires back until you find them plugged into another set of 8-pin rectangular connectors. You then unplug that set of connectors and...

replaced heater core, now having a wiring NIGHTMARE!

I tossed you the IM last night :D. Glad the car will crank over at least now. As for the lights, I am assuming you just double checked your connections for the turn signal/headlamp switch along with the fuses? There is a fuseable link located somewhere in the headlight setup that will burn out...

Are 215/40/17 size tires safe for speed on 17x8 rims?

Then actually its still width/height/interior diameter. I did not state that the method used to calculate the numbers is not dependant on the diameter. I only stated that the numbers represent width/height/interior diameter, which they do. And yes, you are absoltely correct and tire makers need...

    Overheating?

Do you have electric fans? If so, ususally the radiator fan switch relay will only kick on once the car has reached operating temperature as detected by the temp sensor. So even though the themostat has opened up and coolant is flowing, the car will heat up to normal operating temperature while...

Are 215/40/17 size tires safe for speed on 17x8 rims?

Oh, ok, that makes more sense as to the lower profile stuff. As for the 130-140mph stuff, check the speed ratings on your tires you are going to purcahse. Here is a tire speed rating refrence: Rating - Speed S 180km/h or 112mph T 190km/h or 118mph U 200km/h or 125mph H 210km/h or...

    Arp Rod Bolts

It is a bad practice to re-use connecting rod bolts (but you already know that). But I am guessing that if you have a stretch gauge on you that you can zero out the dial indicator on one of the rod bolts and then measure all the rest of the connecting rod bolts. If everything is still the same...

Are 215/40/17 size tires safe for speed on 17x8 rims?

215/40/17 are not lower profile than 275/40/17. Lower profile tires would be 275/35/17. Tire measurements go width/height/interior diameter. I have run 205/40/17's on a 17x7.5" wheel before. But yes it's possible to run 215/40/17's on a 17x8" wheel. Reccomended size would be closer to 225/40/17...

replaced heater core, now having a wiring NIGHTMARE!

I had somewhat of a similiar problem when I replaced all of my interior. Do your turn/parking lamps turn on but not your headlights? That happened to me and the problem was that I didnt have one of the ground wire hooked back up to the metal frame of the dash. There are two thick wires (one red...

Stereo Install, Power But No Sound?

Ohhh, thats what that thing is. I thought it was a computer for the AOD or something. Okay, so I need to bypass the amp, cool! Sounds simple enough. Thanks guys! :SNSign:

Stereo Install, Power But No Sound?

Daggar, I will check the speaker wires to look for shorts. Thanks for the troubleshooting tips. Everyone else, where is the factory amp located? Also, I thought only the "premium stereo" upgrade had the factory amp. If this is true, how do I tell if this particular cas has the premium sound...
