67 wiring advice-100 amp alt + factory volt reg? Will it work?

I've got a 67 with a 61 amp alternator hooked up in 3 wire configuration with a factory style (but repro) voltage regulator that reports it is "externally identical to the original factory part but internally built to be used with a 61 amp alternator". My question - can I use a 100 amp...

    Frustrating cooling / Engine issues

I was concerned about my 67 and my mechanic said that the 289's are designed to operate essentially at a cooler level, when ambient temperatures are lower and at a higher level when outside temps are higher - I don't know how it does that, maybe it's just whether the thermo has opened up or not...

    Timing Problem?

There's a general rule of thumb to it - it's either that the diaphram SHOULD point approx. towards your crotch and NOT towards the pass side headlight bucket - or the other way round - I don't recall - anyone?

    Timing Problem?

Keeping in mind that while I'm mechanical -I'm NOT a mechanic - couple things I'd check: 1) check for a miss-pull all the plug wires off at the cap and rest them about their point (so spark will still jump across air gap and fire but you can still pull them off easily and they don't cross...
