PLS Recommend AOD Tranny for 67

You know, I've never really put the two together. I don't have a tach at the moment so I'm guessing at the exact RPMs at 60. But when in overdrive the motor is purrring along (unlike the C4 I had in it previously with a similar stall converter). I'll have to ask my buddy about that ( i did...

PLS Recommend AOD Tranny for 67

I bought a Performance Automatic AOD with 2500 stall and it runs great in my 66 coupe. I have 3.55 posi out back and I cruise around ~2100 rpm at 60 mph. Good trans so far (and I even chirp second on command:D ). Good Luck

    66 Stang 302 Fan Shroud

Yeah, that’s the one I have now. The problem is that fan (if you look closely at the pic in the catalog) is not entirely flush to the radiator and on the sides the thickness is less than an inch. I want the 3.5" like shroud but in a 2.5" inch thickness (2.5" all the way around the shroud)...

    66 Stang 302 Fan Shroud

Hi all: I have the stock 66' fan shroud (pretty flimsey piece) on my Fluidyne radiator and would like to get a shroud that is beefier and will fit flush against the radiator. My problem is that I only see one (the 3.5" wide version) being sold by CJ Pony Parts, Mustangs Unlimited and others...

who makes the best crate engines?

I used D&J Machine & Performance engines (I found the company on e-bay) and the motor is great. I picked up the 302 328hp version with the Eldelbrock Performer RPM intake ( I think I paid something like $2600 with a 12,000 mile one year warranty). Another guy who used my mechanic bought the...

    302 AOD: Header Recommendation

Thanks for the input and I'll look into the ones you guys suggested. I had a buddy tell me today that he's used Flowtech in the past (ceramic coated long tube) and had good results. I think those were running under $230 from summit. :flag:

    302 AOD: Header Recommendation

Recently had the AOD installed and now I'm looking into headers. At the moment I have the K-code manifolds. What headers are yall using with your AOD? Any problems that I should be aware of during installation or anything over time? Do I have to stick with Shorty style or is there a mid to...

    aod conversion

I bought the conversion kit from CJ Pony Parts which included the crossmember, shifter linkage, TV cable, Carb braket,........ I also had to buy the appropriate flywheel as well as torque converter. I was lucky though, I did not have to shorten my originial C4 drive shaft during the...

Transmission Choices: AOD or C4 reverse Manual

The reason I'm even considering the reverse manual was due to the fact that I burned up two brand new TCI Streetfighter trans with 200 miles. I sent them back twice and the guys at TCI said the clutches were burning up and they decide to give my money back (no fault was given to the install)...

Transmission Choices: AOD or C4 reverse Manual

Same that are in the Performance Automatic Super Comp C4. The builder buys the parts directly through PA. -Reverse Manual Valve Body, Pro Shift Servo, Deep Aluminum Pan -Alto Red Racing Clutches, Pro Pump, Power Planetary -Hardened Input Shaft, Kevlar Band Not sure of the specs...

Transmission Choices: AOD or C4 reverse Manual

Thanks for the input 68converted. I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of spending a little more on the AOD now or stick with the C4 (I also need to find someone local who can do the AOD work!) Does the extra money that you spend in the conversion worth it and do you have the reliability...

Transmission Choices: AOD or C4 reverse Manual

I need to decide what trans to choose. I recently went through two brand new TCI Streetfighter C4s and their engineers told me the clutches where burning up (less than 200 miles on each so they are refunding my cash this week). I need some input from yall. I contacted a local, well known...

Would like to find a shop near me. I'm looking at doing an AOD conversion on my '66 and need a good shop to call. I'm in Anne Arundel County and don't mind traveling a little. Thanks All!

I'm not to far from Waldorf and have a '66 that I just restored. I'm not exactly sure of the one your talking about but there are a few places the hot rods hang out during the spring/summer. Where do you live? -Chris Crofton, MD
