Hi all,

As mentioned in another post, I have a 1983 Mustang convertible that I'm thinking about updating. I have a line on a 1996 Mustang with a V6 and a 5spd that's been in a wreck, and I was wondering if the 5spd could be made to work in my 83.

My 83 is a 3.8L V6 also, but I don't know if the mounts/splines are the same between the generations. Also wondering if the driveshaft would need to be cut.

If anyone has any knowledge on this, I'd appreciate hearing it.

Thanks,
Nick

no, it wont work, they switched to the t45 trannys, in 96, find a 94 or a 95 3.8 and it wil bolt up just fine, or you could go through and swap the motor and the tranny out of the 96 and it will work, but the tranny alone will not work on an 83 motor, they run the t-5 tranny, 96 an dup run the t-45
