Man, it did not bring strong money. The final price was $28,620. Granted, it was not a "vert" but I would have thought that one of the last s351 cars would bring at least 30K. To think ....29K does not buy you much these days....it may just heve been the wrong overall audience. It looked to be clean in the BJ pics.

And to think I blew off the auction...and went to Miami Beach for the day. Oh well. That car was a buy!

Still loooking for one grey 10X18 rear wheel...and a nice 91-93 vert. Anybody know of either?

Lastly, I have a set of Aclon 1998 frt brakes complete with spindles. Let me know if youy have interest.

Is this the car that mark ( from P A) sold 2 or so years ago for almost 40K?

    Thanks.

    Dan

    Dan,

I had to go to B J.com so I could see which car it was. #03 is a nice low number and that is a smoking deal for that car, but from it's description it sounds like it has been beat on big time from the magazines to the track. Oh well, nice price anyway. S351's are difficult enough to keep on the road. That car sounded like it would keep me in the garage every night forever. :D
Guess thats not a bad thing.

Tell me what the offset of your rear wheel is. 25mm?

Did you by chance buy that 18" x 10" rear wheel on ebay within the last couple of months? Saleen Speedline Alloy with a 25mm offset manufactored in 1996??? If that is the case, you outbid me for that wheel. I've actually had the matching wheel in my possession for the past 18 months watching and waiting to find another!!! I would be willing to part with the wheel so you would have a complete rear set IF you can talk Marcus into selling me his spare front Mag wheels :nice:

Look at you. You are on it. Dan needs one single 94-98 aluminum rear 18X10 but I don't know if it is a Speedline he needs or a Saleen mold wheel.

I tell you what. I'll give you my wheels if you can get Dan to sell me one of his "other cars" You know what I mean.

About the s351. I'm a huge s351 fan, god knows i wish i had the extra toy money to buy myself one, but in reality 28,000 is probably enough to build 2 of them using used sn95's.
I know they wouldn't be real, but still could be done, and people know that sometimes fake can be better than real.

But as i said i do wish i had one, but i would rather build my own saleen from an 03 cobra for that much.

How much for the alcon brake setup? How big were the rotors back then, i only ask because i'd put them on my 90, but it may eliminate me using my 16 inch wheels at the drag strip.

Marcus, BTW speaking of brakes i put the 95 cobra rear vented discs on the back of my car using northracecar brackets still with stock length fox axles. But i replaced my 3 inch studs on the mosers with 2 inch studs. That was a mistake, because the disc is thicker than the drum, so now if i use the spacers like before i'm really not happy with how far the lug nuts go on. So i put the wheels on without the spacers and they still don't hit the quads unbelievably. I can see a bit of difference in how it looks but no one else can tell.
Remember i used the front speedlines on the back, and the backs on the front. Maybe i can get this guys alcon and splindle setup and put them on the car the right way and it would be perfect.

Edit: just remembered that the 16's won't work with 94+ spindles anyway, if the deal is right maybe i'll sell my 16 inch saleens to finance the brakes. I promissed myself no more "new money" on upgrades, only maintainance.

I wondered how the longer studs would work out. I was thinking of maybe a fix without spacers. On that note, I spent a Sat. afternoon a few months back trying the different 18" wheels I have.
This is what we do know. My 89 Saleen like all other 87-89 cars have the Lincoln Mark VII brakes. The only wheels that worked ALL the way around are the Saleen mold 18 X 8.5, 30mm front offset Speedline's without any problems whatsoever. Without problems I mean I can get an index finger between the rear of the wheel and the shock on the front and with the front offset 30mm wheel on the rear there are no clearance issues ( kicker shocks on )
The rear offset wheels stick out a bit on the front ( past the outside of the fenders ) and the rear of the wheel rubs on the front shock without a spacer.

    ???

The Alcons will work with the 17" Speedline and Stern wheels, and with your 18's but not with the 16"s.

The 3 inch studs are too long and the 2 inch are too short to use spacers with, i should of just had a machine shop cut the 3's to 2.5, because moser doesn't not make screw in 2.5's. With the 3's with 1/4 spacers, i had to put a regualr lug nut on, then put the decorative one over it. What a pita that was, every time i took a rear wheel off i had to take 10 lug nuts off, lol.

.....I don't know what "other cars" Dan has, but I'm guessing its another type of Mustang that starts with "S" but doesn't stand for Saleen

that's easy!!!!! SaleenMike is selling "Project 69" 1985 Saleen #69!! The asking price is $10,500 with the Stern's or $9,500 without the Stern's. Offer him 1 large for the wheels and JOIN THE SCOA and he might sell them to you. Here is the picture of the wheels:

Oops, maybe I should look more closely next time.....Maybe Stu in the midwest or Mike Lawerence up at UCLA has a set floating around. We need to get Mark and Greg involved in this one. If that's the only way I'm getting those damn Mag's, I'll call in all the guns to find those wheels for you...
You could always fly to the South and steal the wheels off of George's car :D

Yea, I know. If George didn't sound like such a nice guy I'd have to send some "boys" over there from Miami and ****** those beautiful 3 piece wheels for me. :D

Robert. I did buy one wheel but that does not look like the picture...but it might be.

Each of the wheels I have now are stamped speedline, not Saleen, so I think I need the speedline version. How would I determine the offset?

As for the other cars, yes a couple of them start with an S. I'll try to post one below. This one gives the s351 a real run for its money and I think to 120 or so would leave it behind. No 5th and 6th gear though.

    the Alcons

How much for the alcon brake setup? How big were the rotors back then, i only ask because i'd put them on my 90, but it may eliminate me using my 16 inch wheels at the drag strip.

I have been told that the rotors are 13 in inch. The brakes were off a crashed 1998 s281 and I paid 1250 for the set to help a friend develop some cash. I need what I paid (1250.00) plus shipping. The car had only about 12,000 miles. The brakes include the spindles and I have been told that they are very clean...I have not seen them.

Let me know if you have some interest.

$28,620 is super low for this 1999 S351. Its too bad I bought an 01 281SC, I would have been much happier with that car.

I was thinking the the prices would start going up on our cars with the nice weather, not to mention the problems with the 05's but it looks like I am mistaken.

That price was a fluke. It was a no reserve bid and there happen to be no people there that were "saleen enthusiasts". Mark at Performance would have no problem fetching $40,000 to $45,000 for that car without breaking a sweat...

1st: Sweet Shelby.......could you get a picture of the 351 up as well???

2nd: That was actually a picture of the wheel in my possession. It is a Speedline Wheel that I have. If that was you who outbid me, the wheel in your possession DOES match mine. I had the seller send me pictures of the wheel. Mine is painted gold and would need to be refinished (about $60 local) anyways. PM me with your email and I will send all the pictures of on mine.

3rd: If you haven't already checked, please check out www.saleenclubofamerica.com :nice:

I won the wheel off ebay. I got it and it turned out to be badly warped!
