2.3 L CYLINDER HEAD

    can a 2.3 cylinder head be shaved and if so how much

    say he wants to run 87 octane. How much , and how much HP would this produce on say a 91

    my car is a 88 mustang stock four race car. running pumped gas, just trying to get a little more out of the engine.

    The head can physically be shaved until you just barely touch the bottom of the intake bolts. Of course, that would give you something around 12:1 with flat tops. A more reasonable number to shoot for would be around 9.8-10:1 for pump gas. I ran 10:1 on pump gas, and was still able to run plenty of timing.
