I've searched and lurked and posted and all but still have no definitive answers.

I need to replace my piston rings and am going to do a total rebuild while I'm at it. Mine is a 93(hence my name) I have a PVC CAI that I want to switch to a nicer one. Pacesetter longtube header gutted factory cat flow 40 series exhaust.

I am looking for a couple of things to do to pep it up a little while I am rebuilding her. I've heard mixed reviews on cams. I'm probably looking to spend between 600 and 1000 on parts. Ebay and secondhand is fine with me as long as it will work fine. Please don't hate or flame me.

i dont know what kinda "pep" you want, but thats' a perfect budget for a turbo swap. if you going to dump more than $500 into you motor because you want some performance, then staying n/a is not a good plan. but i am only speaking for 98% of the board, if you want the next 2%, i can go door to door.
-you can dump a grand into a n/a motor and still not be at the 150hp point.
-or you can spend a grand on a complete turbo swap, and start out with at least 225. a few more hundred and easily graduate the 300hp club. now thats fun.

I bought my remanufactured motor that was build by ford for $600, its n/a. :damnit:
Sure its bulletproof and reliable, but i kick myself in the a$$ everyday when i pull up to another stang, honda, or camaro, and know they could smoke me. I shoulda when turbo when i had the cash. dont let this happen to you.

Can you start knocking for me? LOL seriously, I'm not looking or expecting much, I've been on this board a LONG time and realize I'm not going to see a whole lot and that turbo is the way to go. I'm just not ready for that though. There is no convincing me to go Turbo right now. I am really trying to find a nice cam(is there one? and whatever i need to match up with that. Kinda retarded when it comes to getting down in the engine and knowing what I have to get to what a certain lift or whatever. Just looking for suggestions

I do realize that the most restrictive part of the DP 2.3L are the heads. Any walkthrough on porting them properly? I've been reading and searching the boards for hours

Go over to turboford.org and look there. You may change your mind about going turbo.

Try getting a ranger header from a JY ($25-$45). You can also cut the air box or just get a K&N to go over the MAF.

If you have the tools to port the head and stuff go for it. I read somewhere that the DP heads are the most restrictive though.

Maybe you could shave the head for more compression.

    Most of us look pretty seriously at the turbo swap. {peer pressure on} You know you really wanna do it{peer pressure off}

Turboford.org is a good place to look if you want to know about porting. Esslinger sells 2.3N/A performance parts but that would probably blow your $600-$1000 budget to smithereens.

You might look at installing a larger throttle body and porting up the intake and port matchinhg it to the head.

Biggest boost would be to pull the head and port and polish it and install back cut valves.

While the heads off you could also mill the head to bump compression a bit but not so high that you have to run octane boost.

And get a good midrange roller cam and runnit straight up.

Where could a person find a bigger throttle body for a n/a 2.3?
