i have a 87 notchaback with a 85 svo motor in it i have had the car for about 6 months and now it is not running right it wont run at all but then i went to check to see if there was spark by puting the coil wire beside the coil electrode and it fired up i put the wire back on and it wouldnt run so i pulled the wire back off and tried again and with it arcing across it runs with a miss not sure why i replaced the coil and still doesnt work if anyone knows i would really apperciate it bc im trying to sell it to get my racecar done thanks
good fuel pressure...cant get codes the guy who i bought this car from did half ass job of wiring it in so check engine light dont work
even if the check engine light doesn't work the ECM stores codes... The wiring changes on an 87 aren't much and the swap should have nothing to do with that... try to pull some codes... BTW...does the MIL come on when you first turn the key to KOEO? If it doesn't then the bulb is either missing or burnt out....
The 'check engine light' is basically an idiot light. You should have diagnostic connectors under the hood, near the drivers side shock tower. Buy a code reader http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?categorycode=3389&mfrcode=EQU&mfrpartnumber=3145 and scan for codes.
no one around here has any code readers instock and my buddy who has one is out of town we got good spark now but no fuel pressure the pump was quite and now we put some more gas in and it got louder a
ok found out fuel pump was stuck tapped on gas tank and it works now i replaced plugs wires coil it runs but not very well and it stalls now to ill have a code reader tomorow and ill post the codes up
Also save your $60 core reader budget and put 15 of that toward a service manual and a test lamp. The test lamp can be used to check codes and the serive manual tells you how. The manual is also good for other things. A code reader isn't.
