what transmissions will bolt up to the 2.3. i have been told that the aod will bolt right up. im in need of a news trans as the lovely little a4ld is dyeing. i would prefer not rebuilding it but swaping with something other than a t5 right now, that can hold up to some abuse

the AOD will NOT bolt up, the only options for autos is the A4LD, and the C4 which has no overdrive and the bell housings are tough to find. the best bet is to have your auto rebuilt with explorer parts (it you must have an auto) or do a t5 5 speed swap. I swapped in a 5 speed and would never go back to an auto.

The A4LD bell housing will not work with a C4. You have to have a C4 bell specificly for a 2.3L. They are hard to find and costly but a good option if you don't need overdrive.

    Hold On To That Car!!!!

Don't get rid of it for anything!! You've got the ONLY 4cyl. AOD car ever produced!!

    Congratulations.

    :bang:

At least it has been recently rebuilt.
