    Here I am....at it again...

I found a custom exhaust place locally that said he would make some custom tips to put on the end of my Borla side exit exhaust for my Cobra....but there is one problem...he needs to know the diameter, length, and all that jazz about the tips before he can make them. I am totally clueless ( ) besides this picture that I found of the tips: (Link Below In Case Picture Doesnt Show Up)

I was wondering if anybody here owned a 2000 Cobra R and could measure the tips for me to get them made, or if someone has the info stashed away somewhere and would care to share...Any help would be appreciated...

That pic you're linking to is actually a concept.

The oem exhaust tips are pictured here:

And if I'm not mistaken it is 2.5" pipe flattened to an oval for clearance.

If you're looking for a louder more aggresive sound, I would avoid the "oem" cobra R exhaust. Myself along with many others think it's a bit too subduded for the car it was designed for. But again, I don't want to start an exhaust flame war. Just my $.02

I just wish someone would come out with the Cobra R side exhaust as a kit, be it Borla, Bassani, Magnaflow, etc.. I dont care if it makes 3-5hp less than my current exhaust, I just want a nice looking side-exhaust and the Cobra R one is the only one that fits the bill for me.

...well it is a Borla exhaust isn't it? I was going to go Bassani but after hearing some clips, and just knowing the fact that Ford's SVT team chose Borla... I think they will get my business for the cat-back at least. Top-line quality and a cheaper price than Bassani.

The steeda kit is the exact same thing as the Borla kit...Borla makes it for Steeda...

Talked to my neighbor after I posted that. Thought I had heard that before. You're correct. Still too quiet imho. :)

The pipes will look good for 4-6 months, because the exhaust will turn them blue, if you want to do this, you'll have to do like the R
(you have to do a pipe in a pipe)

We have a 2000 R if you tell me exactly where you want me to measure from I will get the dimensions for you. :flag:

Has there been any discussion on a side exhaust for an 03-04 Cobra? That would be sweet...

If it fits an 01 it should fit an 03-04. So the Borla system would work fine.

CobraSusie, could you measure the oval width of the tip and the height top to bottom? I would be curious to know what the exact dimensions are. Also ground clearance has to be like 4 inches at the most.

    Thanks

    oval width 3 and 3/4
the inside tube is 2 and 5/8

(one inch to the ground effects) the ground clearance is 4 1/2 inches

Let me know if you need anything else :nice:
