What does Frank Zappa have to do with Bobby Brown.??.

Is that pic an album cover by Frank Z??

and did Bobby brown steal that name for his own use or is Bobby Brown really Bobby Brown???

It's one of those coincedences. Believe me, the R&B Bobby Brown wouldn't want to be like Zappa's Bobby Brown. :rlaugh:

These guys are right... The Bobby Brown you are thinking about has nothing to do with the one Frank sings about! The song is actually called Bobby Brown Goes Down and it came out in 1978 on the album Sheik Yerbouti. Frank was really into doggin' out the disco scene back then and making fun of it whenever he could. This song is about a kid who got mixed up with a dyke on a date and it changed his life! The song is pretty funny really... but like almost 99% of all Frank Zappa's songs, it never got any air play in the U.S. because of the lyrics and subject matter. Next time you're on Kazaa try downloading it and have a listen.... LOL!

I also highly recommend the following Frank Zappa tunes:

    Titties & Beer
    Disco Boy
    Don't Eat The Yellow Snow
    Moving to Montana
    Jewish Princess
    Dinah-Moe-Hum

    U.M.

P.S. Did you know that by the time Frank Zappa died he had produced more than 90 albums!

That album cover is actually one of the better shots of Zappa, in my opinion. Some of his pictures are actually more freaky than your avitar.

Why did you pick Uncle Meat, released in 1969 I do believe, as your screen name?

    Just curious.

No kidding! That's really cool! I know Frank & Moon did a tune together called Valley Girl which is pretty funny too! Did you know that Dweezil Zappa plays guitar on Weild Al Yankovics latest album "Poodle Hat". Dweezil seems to have added a bit of "Zappa-like" sound to one of the songs on it too! The song is called Genius in France and it sounds like it should have come off of the latest Frank Zappa album, not something like Weird Al would put out.

CobraCruiser - I've always been a Frank Zappa fan since the day I inherited some of my older brother’s albums. The reason I used "Uncle Meat" as my screen name goes all the way back to the days of the original Quake FPS game from Id Software. I was really into the emerging on-line game scene and I thought "Uncle Meat" sounded like a cool handle for my on-line persona. At the time my teammates had names like Fleshbone and Bile, so Uncle Meat fit right in!

As for even MORE freaky pictures of Frank…. yeah there are plenty out there for sure!

    Hey Uncle Meat,
How about some of the less commercial work by Zappa. the one album in particular that I really like is Another band from L.A. with Flo and Eddie and the song Billy the Mountain. I have seen Zappa numerous times and he played one of the longest concerts I have ever been to. it started at 8p.m. and was not over until 1:45 am. that was at the Capitol theatre in Passaic NJ around 1975. the man was a musical genius and I admire all of his work. I have always enjoyed your Zappa avatar just never talked about it.

You're one lucky SOB! I never had the chance to see Frank live. I have a few copies of concerts that were recorded live in NY, one in particular that was filmed on Halloween. Looks like he always put on a really great show.

As for "Just Another Band From L.A." that is a classic album! The song entitled Billy The Mountain was over 24 minutes long and used all of side one! As for Flo and Eddie... are you referring to the song "Eddie, Are You Kidding?".... Either way.... good music all around.

Zappa always liked to do the Halloween shows. Like yourself I picked up his music from my older brother who is also a musician and attended Berklee school of music in Boston. Just refering to Flo and Eddie in general. they seem to have played quite often with Zappa and the Mothers of Invention and still to this day have one of my favorite songs under their belt. Happy Together by the them in the Turtles band. Its good to see there are still fans of Zappa'a around. even with all his success and music that he put out and produced his life was cut way short by the big C.

Frank may have gone to school in Boston, but he grew up in Baltimore. That's how got to be how he was....

Uncle Meat, im only 18 so I dont know much about his music... however, dweezil and moonunit used to babysit me... i am full of wierd facts but have never really taken a real interest in Frank Zappa's music. I did really appreciate how he lead the artists against the ratings system as far as music goes.
