I have part of the 2003 fuel system setup on my 99. Basically 2003 tank and dual pumps. I still got stock 99 rails and the 99 stock fuel pressure transducer (ie. resides on the driver side rail, small little black looking box). Not expensive to replace when she blows, but does anyone know if the 2003 part is better and will fit on my 99? I think I have trashed 2 of these parts by hitting the rev lim pretty hard, man it is ugly when it happens, fuel back into the intake via the vacum hose and this is not a safe thing to say the least. I am having my autologic chip changed to "defeat" the stock REV LIM. "Defeat" means to totally eliminate the d@m thing, gone, goodbye....This is not the same as trying to set it higher.Anyway...Looking for a little more peice of mind, if the 2003 part is better. John
FP Transducer What is the part # of the one you have been buying? I picked up a bunch last year for a projet that I am working on and they were suposed to be the latest. I do not know if the 03 transducers are any more resistant to being over-pressured than the 99> ones. They are rated 0-80 psi differential in 'normal' operation with the over pressure reading above that and the burst pressure even higher. They custom are made by Motorola for Ford. It could be that when you hit the rev limiter and the injectors shut down or your injectors lock up because of too high a pressure and you snap the TB closed, there is a hydraulic 'hammer' which spikes the fuel pressure combined with the 10-15 psi of vacuum to raise the differential pressure above 100psi. across the sensor. You may want to run it with the pressure dampener replaced if you have removed them for flow reasons. ( or use 2 pressure dampeners in parallel to get the flow rate back up )
There are instances of '03 Cobra owners blowing out the FPS when hitting the rev limiter. Rumor has it the '04 Cobras got a different FPS. Can't confirm that yet though. U.M.
